  1. You're assuming that the vast majority of the people who get the money as well as their existing wage won't spend it, stimulating the local economy and re-couping the money in taxes quite promptly.

  2. The follow-on question from "Why is The Australian losing so much money every year" is "Why is Murdoch willing to run a business at a loss?" The answers is probably "So he can maintain his hold on Australian public opinion and push people to vote for candidates he likes." And once you know something about Murdoch and what he's said and done, perhaps that should worry the fuck out of you.

    That's letting perfect be the enemy of good. Wheeler should have been left until a better standard could have been written to replace it with, rather than just tearing up the "we all know what this is Supposed to be telling us to do, so we'll do what it's Supposed to say" law. But then it's Really hard to get legislation through unless you've got deep pockets.

    So, writing code is the Only thing Google wants people to do?? Not work as a team? Present a persuasive series of slides? Be able to focus for six/twelve months on a mission critical project that doesn't show results until the end?

    #rant I hate how many pointless message there are in so many pieces of software, I've actually been sitting with a user who was clicking Ok on Every box that came up and said "I just want it to work..." The problem was that one of the messages had a specific piece of text in it that I wanted so that I could fix the problem. So in amongst the chaff was some actual wheat. Perhaps we'll need to wait until the next generation (who've hopefully grown up knowing about code from primary school) comes along and knows more than so many currently do about what should and shouldn't be necessary to just watch a YouTube video.

    So it's a statistical certainty that if you broadcast an emergency announcement that concludes with "exercise, exercise, exercise",

    So that's why they put "exercise" repeated three times at the start of the message. Your reptilian brain should be sound asleep by the time the rest of the message arrives.

    Actually the article says the message 'included' "exercise, exercise, exercise", it doesn't say that it Started with that text.

    Just like Obama's 'Muslim Ban', which was a specific and limited response to a known and quantifiable threat from one specific country, as compared to Trump's 'Muslim Ban' which was a broad ban on multiple countries without any specific information as to any threats from any of them.
