Some of the products that we resell use USB dongles. At one location somebody stole the dongle thinking that it was a pen drive.
Try to explain that to your supplier.
Yep, and if you, by any chance, update the java security policy in order to give especial privileges to certain code you lose all that with every new version.
Do you recall Bill Gates saying:
"Although about 3 million computers get sold every year in China, people don't pay for the software. Someday they will, though, and as long as they're going to steal it, we want them to steal ours. They'll get sort of addicted, and then we'll somehow figure out how to collect sometime in the next decade."
I have always thought that going to a cinema was not about the movie itself but about the experience: the popcorn, the perfect first date excuse, the trailers, the big screen, the sound.
Even the obnoxious people are part of that package.
You can't download that.
On the other hand, don't ask me why since I can't come with a reasonable explanation, I don't feel the slightest remorse about downloading music, but I would never download a movie nor pirate a console game.
I stopped buying cds back in 1996, but I buy all my movies and games 100% original.
But wait... If a person feels inferior or resented because he can't afford a material thing that his neighbor has and if he bases his self esteem and sensation of worth entirely on that then maybe he has a problem.
There are always going to be people eager to show in your face that they can afford things that you can't, you just have to cope with that
Speaking of the third world. Digitel in Venezuela is billing by seconds since it was created, something that they advertised as they major advantage over the other two existing operators.
A few years later the other ones took the hint and now the 3 operators bill by seconds.
Also, you don't get charged a dime if someone calls you, just if you call.
Plus Wii Fit keeps you motivated to reach a certain goal. It kind of feels like beating a game.
Also, Stepmania plus a red octane metal pad should do the trick.
Regarding number 5, I donÂt quite get it, I though it worked this way: you get fit in order to get, or at least improve your chances of getting a gf, no the other way around.
Every month or so you can play special tournaments like pushing enemies from a platform or collecting all the coins from a stage as fast as you can. You can then upload your time and see how you stand against the rest of the world, your region or your friends.
You can also download ghost to race against. Like, for instance, the one with the world record time of a track like I did just to make a fool of myself.
I would pay for it. Maybe not 20$ but I would.
I am not paying for the product itself, but for the time I can save while not downloading nor burning the cd.
My time is not free
"Some of the web properties are useful (some extremely useful - search), but most of them primarily help people waste time online (blogger, youtube, orkut, etc).
All of them are free, and it's anyone's guess how many people would actually pay, say $5 per month to use Gmail. For me, this really does make the project less interesting if people are not willing to pay for it."
I don't know about that, but they will have to PAY me more than 5$ for using hotmail ever again!.
Just imagine a world where everybody has the same mentality as this guy:
Einstein : "You know, who is going to pay me for this theory anyway?, what's the propose?, let's sell donuts"
The story is called "The Feeling of Power" by Isaac Asimov.
You can find it here

Give it a read! It is worth it and very relevant to this subject.
Precisely! that's the problem. Maybe it doesn't feel like a dog, but only if you have the latest hardware to support it.
Let me get this straight, so I was using a winXP laptop, purchased a new one with twice the hardware power now running Vista and it feels exactly the same in terms of speed?
Where is my motivation to improve my hardware then if the OS is going to expand to eat all those new resources and take the same amount of years just to boot.
Now, if you give me a new OS which will boot twice as fast and that is fully optimized to run smoothly and faster than my previous OS on the same hardware... that would be something!

You know, windows live messenger used to block bad words and foul language on your nickname.
try this: my roflcopter goes ssssssssssssssssssssss
Actually is much better if you don't kill but wound.
If you wound an enemy then they have to take care of him, take him out of the battlefield, and all sorts of complicated logistics.
Also, some guy screaming in pain is very bad for your morale.
Kind of sick
Who uses the User Agent String anymore?
Just detect the browser capabilities:
if (window.ActiveXObject){}
Or something like that
Yep, and if you, by any chance, update the java security policy in order to give especial privileges to certain code you lose all that with every new version.
public static void main(String args[]){
System.out.println("there, fixed for you");
}
Yep, correct. People tend to steal USB dongles, especially since they look like abandoned USB flash drives.

Homer: What if instead of donating one of my old worn out kidneys, I gave grandpa that artificial kidney I invented.
Marge: Oh Homer, that was just a beer can with a whistle glued to it

The cake is a lie
They are going to declare war against the Bernoulli's principle... which makes as much sense as declaring a "war on terror".
