    Let's be honest here, employers assume that you lie on your CV. So they start looking for other sources of information about you, the the easiest is to run your name through Google (provided you're not John Smith or similar). That they're actually using it can be seen in my mailbox.

    My name isn't a common one, but if you look it up on Google, someone with the same name as me has been convicted of embezzlement.

    That can't be good.

    Ethics aside, your router is actively sending beacons that solicit itself as an available device to connect to. The beacons come to my house. Some operating systems (ironically Mac & Linux, but not Windows) default to connecting to any open access point, so I may 'steal' your interwebs without having any say in the matter at all.

    Doesn't matter, if it's still producing heat, it's still useful as fuel. Preprocess it into high-concentrations, and reburn it until all you have is lead, strontium and irradiated Iron! :-) We could use it to quickly fertilize crops and make tomacco!

    According to this, business and ultimate are eligable for a free downgrade to XP Professional:

    Sorry ladies, but I work with 3 women coders, and I have to redo their stuff all the time! So much freakin' copy and paste junk code, classes that are 10k+ lines long, learn object oriented programming already! So basically, they hand it to you and tell you to take out the garbage?

    Red is more of a 'HEY POLICE OFFICER, CHECK MY SPEED' color. And you'll end up getting more tickets. And since it's a flashy red car, the officer will be less likely to make it into a warning. So, yes, your insurance rate will be higher. Well, your rates will be higher because of the tickets. But my insurance company doesn't even ask what color my car is.

    Does your insurance pays for your tickets?

    Locked door or not, after 9/11 it is no longer possible to hijack a plane and fly it into a building. Yes, it is more difficult, but any lock or security mechanism can be defeated. Suppose the terrorist was either a master lock pick or had some inside information about how to open the door. BAM! Pilot is dead, and now nobody can get into the cockpit.

    I may be overly optimistic, but I think if there was an attack and the Bush Administration tried to draft a new PATRIOT Act or stop the election, people would say "wait a minute!"

    If someone waited until most people had forgotten the administration (like our children), they'd have a much better shot at it.

    Most of the new anti-terrorism legislation is there so the politicians can say "look, see, we're doing something!" Do they care if it actually works? Do they even have reason to believe it will actually work?

    My guess is no, in at least one of the two cases.

    Yes, it's a big obvious blunder, but when you're taking in front of a camera or to a lot of people, it's easy to make slips like that.
