"I am sure the "haxor" would have been really proud of his/her self if he/she proved their point by porking say a hospital's computer system. What an asshole."
Let us not forget that there are people who are out to disrupt government opperations and injure/kill people in hospitals.
Why does everyone assume that this is a "script-kiddie" sitting in their parents' basements writing worms? There are plenty of evil/sick people who would love to see communications disrupted so they hurt can us economically and possibly physically.
This is something that I've been telling people for a while. If I'm going to pay for downloading a track or album I want to be able to down the uncompressed version. I want the CD quality.wav or similar non-lossy file format.
Then, if I wanted to, I could make mp3 copies off of the.wav file myself.
...netscape versions 6 & 7 don't exist. The author of the article was too busy bashing Netscape 4.x that there was no mention of Netscape's new browsers.
This guy needs to do more reasearch. Maybe if he knew what he was talking about he'd know that feature for feature Netscape 7.1 beats the crap out of Explorer 6.1
Looks like somebody forgot some pretty important history lessons. I guess you can guarantee that no one will try to attack us in the next 100 years??? Try thinking before you hit the "submit" button.
But with our large military, at least we will make a hell of a lot of noise when everything finally collapses.
Um... The US military isn't large by a long shot. There are several countries who have much larger full-time personel than we do. Example: North Korea has over twice as many men in its military.
Seeing how everyone that accesses the internet goes through an ISP that means that 60% of ALL traffic on the internet is P2P. I doubt that is true. They probably mean of all home ISPs, 60% is P2P.
From the article: "They can't really upgrade their NetWare servers because they have production applications that run on the older versions, you know, those older versions that still make use of IPX, a protocol that Novell has moved away from. Their clients are all a mishmash and need to be refreshed, but they figured they would wait until they could roll out a new version of Windows. Plus, to make matters worse, there was a period of about a year when they didn't have anyone on staff who really knew Novell"
Novell has not moved away from IPX. It has been and still will be supported in future versions. I'm teaching 6.0 and it still uses IPX/SPX for several functions. They need an admin with a clue!
I know a few people whose eyes are very sensitive to light. Some can tollerate movies now, but they can't tollerate florescent lights and the like. This whole idea of adding more "flicker" to the screen could make movies unbarable for these people. What are the chances of the companies realizing this?
" If Comcast was closing off incomming port 80 for all customers, and then charging an ass reaming to reconnect the service, that would be different. But having your own SMTP server doesn't provide any functionality that you can't get from Comcast at base price anyway. "
Yes it does. Most ISPs put a size restriction on your mail account now. (10MB seems to be pretty popular) That sucks. That means that large attachments aren't allowed (even with a high speed connection, which is rediculous). That is why people want to run their own mail server.
We'll see what tune your singing when they cut your mail size down to 5MB or less.
You're sort of correct. Most of their income does come from selling snacks. The first week a movie is there the theatre may get %10 or so, but the longer the movie plays the higher percentage the theatre gets from the box.
It varies from film to film, but that's the general idea I picked up from working at my local theatre.
Apparently you've never been to movie where the film has been wrapped up, or fallen off the platters, etc... Most movie theatres are vary generous about giving refunds for the slightest errors.

Maybe you should do some research about Iowa. The 1st state to have an all optic fiber state network. Iowa set the trend for other states to follow.
Hmm... Paying for 2000 MS licenses or a free OS.

Hopefully someday the residents of Clinton's home state will be able to read books from his library.
Zing!

Kind of like the media, general public, CEOs, etc... doesn't know the meaning of the word "broadband".
No, broadband does NOT = high speed.
We could probably come up with a list of 5,000 words that are misused by 95% of the public. But would anyone really listen?

After 8 posts. New record?
Get over it and be thankful that you have a job right now. I know 100s of people that would love to be in your situation right now.

'nuff said.
Make sure you stay for the credits (although they are really really long). After the creits they show a trailor for the next Matrix.

Maybe the fact that many schools are (or have) throwing them out. Free machines are always welcome! How about a cluster of them running Linux?
Say what you want about my home state, but Iowa did have the first state-wide fiber optic network in the U.S.

" Doesn't Akamai offer Windows based hosts? Microsoft should insist on their content being on Windows based servers."
They would be it would be too expensive.

Like this device can't be easily stolen???
The preview button is there for a reason - USE IT!!!
you mean Itanium 64 right?
There isn't a 64bit pentium processor.

There's a big difference between "quite good" and "average computer speakers". So which one is it?
