What does this say about our society? It is sad that we feel we should be rewarded for doing the right thing. We should want to do the right thing without expecting rewards.
I noticed that few people LOOKED at the entire article. It seems that 99% of you talk about the GUI boot manager but have COMPLETELY missed the TEXT shell support.
"There are 5000 developers on the Windows team generating over 50 million lines of code for Windows Server 2003. It's an enormous task, the biggest software engineering task ever attempted. There are no other software projects like this." -Mark Lucovsky Distinguished Engineer Windows Server Architect
I think it is a definite possibility. I don't really see how the (quality) process would suffer. They wouldn't have time to "doctor" the sound in the studio, which is a good thing. Just have a seperate mixing board in a truck with the burners and their you go. It doesn't have to be perfect. Most concerts rarely are.
I would rather hear a true live performance than a "live CD" that has gone through several studio sessions that fix all of shortcomings.
I teach at Iowa Central Community college and I tend to think that we have a great program.
EVERY class is hands on including the 4 semesters of Cisco Academy, 2 semesters of Novell Netware, A+, NT/2000 Pro/server, Active Directory, Unix, Security, Network Documentation, telephone systems, Fiber Optics, C prog, Visual Basic, Network+...
All of those are individual classes that we have. Every student gets their own client and server in most classes. Plus Cisco switches, routers, pix firewalls, AT&T PBXs...
...that these people are pulling the numbers from their asses. They have no clue. We're supposed to give them the benifit of the doubt because they are "scientists".
So what's new in the operating system? Red Hat has nothing to do with Mozilla or glibc. At least microsoft adds new operating system features with new releases (along with 3rd party programs).
I bought a $230 computer from TigerDirect that has 1300MHz Duron, 128 RAM, 10G HD, Built-in NIC and Video, and hardware 56k modem. The package included Lindows 2.0 and an office app.
Broadband = multiple analog signals on 1 wire. That's it nothing more, nothing less. Broadband means that they are several communications going on at the same time all using a different frequency range.
Broadband is not a description of speed, it is the form of how the signals are sent.
Dialup modems (like 28.8kbps) are a broadband connection. 14.4kbps fax is a broadband connection. Cable modems (all speeds) are broadband connections.
Are LANs broadband? No. Are they fast? Yes. They are baseband (digital) connections (like ethernet).
When I was a freshman in high school (15 years old) I had to do I project on a book of my choice. So I went to the city library and found "The years of the city" by Frederik Pohl. I thought the description of the book was interesting so I pulled it off the shelf and checked it out.
I started to read the book and about half way through the book there was foul language all over the place. "f___ this" and "f___ that" and so on.
So if I can check out a book with foul language at the age of 15 why can't I go to a web site with the word "flesh" in it?
The term broadband does not indicate what speed the connection is running at. Broadband means that it is an ANALOG signal. That's all. The means of sending several analog signals down 1 cable is frequency multiplexing.
Examples of broadband technology are: dial up modems (28.8, 36.6...) and cable modems.
Baseband uses digital signals. Examples of baseband: ethernet, DSL...
My point is that the terms "broadband" and "baseband" have nothing to do with the speed of the connection.

Can someone explain the difference between high tech and low tech? There's only one technology. High technology and low technology? Technolody is technology.
It is like the episode from Seinfeld: A big coincidence? No. Just a coincidence. There are no levels of coincidence. Just a coincidence.
Its true. The US government still uses some of this equipement. I know for a fact that the IRS still uses the disk platters that you can remove from the machine and keep in a case. Crazy stuff!
Actually the office software HAD to be worth more than $2,000. Most people don't realize that Microsoft makes A LOT more money selling Office than their OSes. One copy of Office Professional costs $560 (office max). (Yes I know that you get discounts when you buy in volumes)
50 laptops =
$28,000 for Office Pro $15,000 for XP Pro OS
So actually, they were getting a better than getting the OS for free and having to buy Office.
Who are you to compare their blindness to your big and tallness?
I'm not comparing the disabilities. He can still call the company and get ticket information. I'm saying both examples are forms of discrimination.
-He's blind and can't get web access.
-I'm tall and can't find clothes that fit.
-He can call the company and talk to a human that will get him tickets.
-I can also call the store, but can't get a shirt that fits.
So do I have a right to sue the store? No. There are other ways to get clothing just like there are other ways to get tickets.
56k IS a broadband technology. People just misuse the word broadband today.

They're giving us a clue: Apple is moving to the x86 platform!!!
I just couldn't resist.

What about Behind The Laughter??? That was a great rip off of Behind The Music. I was rolling on the floor during that episode. I'm disappointed.

very reasonable.
Stand voice telephony is 3KHz, not 4
Dammit, get it through your thick heads!

I've seen lots of DVD drives that can play a CD-ROM with mp3s on them. Are there any stand-alone players that can play DVD-Rs with mp3s on them?
If not, are they in the making?
Thanks

There are also problems with the mechanical voting machines and "scan-in" ballots as well.
There's no such thing as a perfect voting system.

They also make some nice high-end power supplies.
