Reverse engineering a closed source driver to check it for compatibility with your software is perfectly fine. If you happen to notice that there is some of your source code in there, politely asking the author to remove it is also OK.

SuSE - Good, easy set up and config. They give our LUG free stuff. RedHat - Allright, easy setup and config - no free stuff yet. Slackware - Ahh slackware, I love you. Debian - Pure Linux, not so easy to get working. Caldera - allright, great PNP and setup Corel - Eat shit and die, this distro sucks. Storm - Like debian, only easy setup and package management.

Excellent point, you should be able to turn the "auto-tray" feature off. It's default action should be off. Napster has a few other issues too, but that is probably the biggest.

The problem is that Linux is a computer operating system. It was designed by people that truly KNOW computers, they can tell you the maximum bandwidth of an ISA slot. Windows NT and MacOS are made by companies in the software market for one thing...$
Linux aims (or at least it did until it started going commercial, although some distros like Debian and Slackware still do.) to be a powerful, all encompassing operating system designed by geeks for geeks. Remember that Linux started as a school project and became a hobby for many programmers.
Where as Windows for example was created by a guy with some programming talent who decided that he was going to make some money off selling operating systems. Therefore he had to make it easy to use so more people would buy it.
My point is that at this time, if you want to harness the true power of Linux (which is a bright idea), you will need to learn some new things. Believe me, you have an extremely supportive community here to help. Did you know that in 1996 the Linux community actually received the award for best tech support organization? Check out the mailing lists. All of the major distros have them, Suse has a good one that you can subscribe to from their web-site. Don't give up just because Windows was easier to get working. Linux is inarguably more powerful.

It's about a government that may say in the future "We have removed the Anarchists Cookbook from all public library's since it has no useful information and may constitute a threat to national security." and the people will say in resounding unison "ok". We can't let this happen! I still want to live in a country, indeed a world, where the citizens (albeit a small portion) can tell the government to STFU and have them listen to us.

The best thing you can do is actively pursue this issue in your local community. Get the flyer from 2600. Tell your friends. I have been wearing my CCA shirt from copyleft and getting lot's of questions about the issue. The EFF is also helping us fight this, what we need to do is come out of our "caves" and tell the rest of the world about this issue (as all they know about it is the lies the news feeds them).
