Yes this! I hate how ticketing agents (ticketmaster) do not specify how many seats are actually going to be available for public or semi public consumption Or which seats are available for which grouping.
I have been granted access to tickets from Promoters "preferential presale" before. Been ready to buy right on the minute and had to deal with less than ideal seats, only to find that better ones are for sale come the general public sale. (And vice versa)
I have also found large areas of premium seating reserved for pomos - they have either gone to sponsors and their families or as radio giveaways. Each of these spots represents a space that a member of the public would have gladly purchased at a premium.
I do not know why the promoters do not want to see how 1st day/week sales are going before dipping in and using extra seats for their giveaways. . More dollars in the boxoffice should be good for them?
Yes, Such restrictions are coming on content recorders here also. (New Zealand)
My 1st DVD recorder (Panasonic) came with a Manual Skip functions - Automatic 30 Seconds. (preNZ Freeview) My 1st BluRay HDD recorder (Panasonic) increased the manual skip function to 1 Minute increments (non Freeview certified) - Also allowed HD output via component cabling. My 2nd BluRay HDD recorder (Panasonic) removed ManualSkip function altogether although we do use fastforward (FreeView Certified) Only Allows HD output via HDMI. . .
As my mind is now, this is my last Panasonic recorder.
We (my wife and I) don't watch live TV, too often. Where we can, we set the DVR and wait 15 minutes.
We then happily add skip and usually end up finishing the show live - Sometimes we end up catching up to the live stream during the final add break, but such is life.
Just as I am getting tempted to try windows again for my next P.C build, I read stories like this.
It is not that this would necessary affect me in a negative way either - I just don't want to support a product that (overtly) treats me more like a commodity than anything else.
If there is another thing I have learned from news and social commentary - it is that the western world is getting heavier. perhaps this is what is happening to our words also:)
Abraham Lincoln: [interrupting] What a charming negress. Oh, forgive me, my dear. I know that in my time some use that term as a description of property.
Uhura: But why should I object to that term, sir? You see, in our century, we've learned not to fear words.
Mine was a "Fill in the survey and enter the draw" prize at an Oracle presentation. I never would have bought one myself but have had good use out of it.
It costs more than $50 to take a family to a movie and around that for a couple.
Being a sufferer of Misophonia, a trip to the cinema is always a stressful event for me as I don't know how bad the "eating, drinking" noises of the other patrons are going to be for any particular session.
Depending on the set up cost, I would happily pay around the same to watch a picture at home and relieve myself of such stress. Of course, I am not impatient and can wait to see most films I want to watch when they make it to home media.
My dislike is the keys (when used legitimately) were intended for use within a specific zone.
I agree that seeing activations come from "all over the place" is a red flag in terms of misuse.
However, the act of selling something for use in a specified region is ruffling my feathers. Its like selling me a painting so long as I only hang it in the living room, where as I think it would look better in the hallway
Buying a "Smart TV" whether you plan to connect it or not provides sales data to the retailer and manufacturer that people indeed want T.Vs with these functions.
Its positive reinforcement by those protesting the cause - Like everyone that buys a Windows P.C. only to wipe windows and install an alternate OS. HP and Microsoft have just received your $$
I agree, which is why I specified actual cheaters, as opposed to the gawkers, the sleuths, the open-marriage types (who probably wouldn't care if his/her spouse found out), etc.
No while the open marriage types may not care that their wife/husband found out. The blackmail letter threatened to contact, workmates, and other family members.
The blackmailers do not care about the (moral)"crimes" committed by the blackmailee, They are opportunist criminals seeking to make a buck (bitcoin)
INext the state will decide who I can and can not merry and how often I MUST have sex with said person.
I wish may state did that, then I could show the legislation to my wife every time she refuses. Even if the state legislates minimal contact, I'm bound to be doubling what I am getting now:)
Doesn't stop the producers from using "Laugh now" signs. I don't know if they actually do this, but my guess is that they probably do....
I don't know if this is so for Big Bang, but I have been to many television recordings. As a part of the shows I have been to, before the presentation they have the Audience applaud and laugh with various levels of enthusiasm so that when the show is edited back together for broadcast:
Jokes that didn't hit can be made to sound like they did Jokes actions that may have elicited a certain response may not have after numerous re-takes Applause that was organic would be choppy after scenes were chopped up and edited
None of the shows I have seen have been sitcoms but rather presented "as live" panel shows
Seems to be very common in the android world with Samsung.
Often you get the excuse that rather than "backroom" deals, this is to ensure compatibility and customer experience.
I say, these companies should make it clear that they will only "support" the supplier they are in bed with and get rid of these arbitrary restrictions.
I do not look forward to the future where all entertainment is streamed.
It puts too much power into the hands of the content providers and distribution channels. Arbitrary restrictions such as regional lock outs, approved devices and discriminative pricing are always a part of the package.
While there is a convenience to streaming services. I can only hope that the option for physical/local "ownership" of media is always an option.
Not entirely on topic i know, but relative (to this Luddite anyway)
I wish there was Star Trek on the Old Netflix - then I would have one more reason to drop my satellite T.V subs. Regional licensing often sucks.
(New Zealand Netflix)

Did you try watching Netflix take on Ritchie Rich?
Rather than:
"I'm offended by this! So I just won't use it."
People are all...
"Someone out there with the resilience of an infant might be offended by this - Therefore, I'm offended by this! IT MUST BE BANNED!"
If this keeps catching on, it'll be like Chinese censorship in no time.
There, fixed that for you

Thankfully delivered from evil.
If there is anything the latest series of the x-files has taught me, it is that words can have weight.

If something is coded to be optimised for specific hardware - good on them.
So long as all code, components, drivers etc remain fully open - and are available to the wider linux community I say go for it.

"activated outside the region for which they were intended."
Most of the complaint sounds reasonably reasonable but this one really irks me.
James Bond-style thrill ride."
Anyone else read that line and think that may motivate a few copycats? Perhaps the powerplant could charge for it.
The problem with this is the purchase.

I wish I could up-vote this beyond the "5" you already have.
This deserves at least an 11.
