A-Bombs have existed for quite some time, but if someone cobbled together a DIY nuke, it would sure be news.
Allah Bomb President!
*ahem*
Yeah, DIY is always cool, especially if you're the first to do it. If Mr. I-don't-want-anyone playing-inside-my-PC's-case isn't cool, could someone show me someone else (a geek, not an assraping corporation) who beat him to the punch, plz?
"Hi, ya'll. I'm a geek, my name is Amit, my friends call me Pikachu."
One time, when I went to my school's programming club, I gave that same introduction, and some guy said, "I guess I'll call you Amit then."
Yeah, public gatherings of people with likeminded interests aren't really my thing... Just remember to do an Ask Slashdot with "So what happened at your International Slashdot Meetup meeting?" a day or so after it happens.
Assuming we don't nuke Pakistan and get nuked in return, I'm willing to bet none of the money will go to you and all the money will continue flowing to us Indians.
Remember way back when the Onion ran a story about how it was now officially ok to not like Tenacious D? Yeah, I think this story clinches it. For everyone too scared to say it because they're afraid of negative peer pressure:
The article writes, "Putting on my speculative hat, the motivation is to drive hardware sales by increasing the prevalence of Pixel and Vertex Shader-enabled applications and gaming titles. This would be accomplished by creating a forward-compatible tool for developers to fully utilize the advanced features of current GPUs, and future GPUs/VPUs."
Putting on my speculative hat, the motivation is to, um, make better looking graphics?
The real test will be how well the crosscompiler outputs OpenGL 2 & DX 9 shaders in practic, not theory.
But let's be serious: cel shading is the only shading anyone really needs. ^^
Create a network drive that everyone can use, H:, the home directory. Usually already set up on networks, but whatever. Tell people that any work related stuff that isn't saved to the H: drive will be deleted.
Warn them a week in advance, warn them a day in advance.
Then, in the middle of the night, format everyone's machines and stick fresh OS installs on all of them. If possible, ghost one machine's fresh install and use it everywhere. Then, the only backup you have to worry about is the H: drive.
If anyone ever has a computer problem, just reghost their drive, removing whatever pointless software (screen savers, comet cursor, kazaa, etc) that got installed and caused the problem.
Minimal hassle for you, easy backups, and everyone will fear you.
If you're waiting for the bus or train or something the GBA screen works fantastic with sunlight. But if you're waiting for someone to respond to an IM or for your program to compile or for your friend to email you back or something, the screen works absolutely terrible with indoor lighting. We're not mocking the pocket size, the situation is that Nintendo dropped the ball with the LCD on this bad boy, and alternatives are desperately sought after.
Afterburner works for two hours @ best and only with games with bright palettes (Castlevania shows no improvement whatsoever). My two hour spec may be off because I use rechargeable batteries, but prior to Afterburner I was seeing 8 hours nonstop play before having to recharge.
I have nothing to contribute to this question but I honestly wonder if it was inspired by the article in this month's issue of DDJ where they talk about the battery life of PDAs.
There are any number of sources who extensively document their findings who could have provided you with credible evidence to back up your assertion, yet you chose to use the onion. wtf?
"The people that will one day run everything are the nerds and geeks of high schools today, and the star high school athletes will be the guy installing my pool or re-shingling my roof in 10 years."
1. This is all the evidence Jon Katz needs to prove that Gopher is making a comeback and it's hackers like us who are doing it and we will overthrow the digerati and the ??AA and it could only be possible in a post 9/11 world.
2. Since gopher's used very rarely, if at all anymore, that's probably why MS hadn't bothered to keep the code up to date./Gs isn't all it's cracked up to be:(
I understand what you're trying to say, but my original understanding was v1.0 was "done". If they said, "yo check it, we got v0.1 and it works" then I would have been less angry. But I'm definitely feeling you.
There won't be any vorbis support because there isn't enough CPU power, but I'm looking forward to everything else.
Slow down there big boy! Not a single one of those has actually been implemented! Calling this thing v1.0 is really misleading. These guys are like Microsoft, yeah, they got 1.0 out the door, call me when they get 3.11 for Workgroups, k?
They complain about the shuffle. Dandy, everyone knows that no matter how good an Archos product is, the shuffle is fucking ridiculous. Archos wouldn't know what random is if random bit them in the bloody ass. But Rockbox doesn't even have a shuffle feature yet! And if they do, it's not mentioned in the release notes or available via the menu.
I'm sure these guys will do something great with this project, but call me when they add even one of the features on that list.

The phone monopoly? Or the cable monopoly?
I'd be too damn embarrassed to go.

It's not officially ok to not like DDR.
It's also always darkest before it goes pitch black.

I will not be buying Warcraft III because:
I'm in direct contact with many advanced fun CONCEPTS.

Despite the fact that wadetemp posted three times before I posted this which automatically disproves my original conjecture, I'm going to ask anyway:
Am I the only person who read the blurb and blurted out "What the flying fuck?!"?

Yup... he (John) has to be thinking to himself: "This can't possibly get any worse..."
Share, please.

Arrogance and ignorance go hand in hand.

Problem was the OSS: bueracracies [sp] don't go away :(
Slashdot to go redundancy free for 30-40 seconds: whee!
You're not gonna get a -1 Flamebait modded as +1 insightful unless you mention how your poor post is gonna ruin your karma!
