Yeah no kidding. I had to go out and buy a new phone this morning (my beautiful Panasonic Allure finally kicked the bucket. it was a faithful phone...) and I was all set to get a Motorolla v60, but after this news came out, it was living proof that people are going to do something interesting with bluetooth. After reading this article, I had to get the T86i over the v60.
SearchKing has a posting of Google's response, presumably with commentary. The link can be found here but you have to pay $20 to the "Legal Defense Fund" to view the entire documentation.
Fortunately, my curiousity is outweighed by me desire to NOT give SearchKing money.
Personally I think 12" is the perfect laptop-for-a-laptop (read: not a desktop replacement) size. The 12" iBook is more portable and fits in more of my bags then the 14" iBook.
Maybe if I knew about the 12" PowerBook 6 months ago.....
As for the silencer...I dunno, doesn't that also have some kind of chemical component? Or is it just layers of fine "grill work" dampening the blast...but if the latter, why do silencers degrade...clogging?
Its been a while, and I'll probably need to be corrected, but I believe that there are many ways to make a silencer. One way is to make a whole bunch of 'baffles' (layers of fine grill work). I wish I could find a good picture, but google's image search is failing me. Anyways, they serve two purposes, slowing down the round and diffusing built up gas pressure. The hole in the center of the baffle is like 1/1000ths of an inch bigger then the projectile going through it. Over time this will degrade the baffle so that the aforementioned hole is larger then tollerances allow. If this happens, then the round will not be slowed down enough and the silencer will fail.

Umm... don't forget that a majority of people don't know how to block banner ads. *AND* most people *do* look at banner ads, *and* click on them, *and* read them *and* freak out when they look like error messages.
I think the mystery machine is an iBook. It looks too thick to be a TiBook. And the color is a slight red (and I don't know *anyone* who would want to spray-paint a TiBook).
Its tough to say. You may either actually like her, or she could be the epitome of bad "female" SciFi. If you are going to give her a go, try the short stories or Clay's Ark (if you want to devote a whole novel to trying out a new author).
I'm reluctant to cast a vote in the best SciFi category, mainly because there is so much great stuff.
I will, though, mention one author that is completely blowing me away right now. Her name is Octavia E. Buttler and for powerful, dramatic SciFi, she reigns supreme (for me at least). Clay's Ark and Patternmaster are definately not to be missed. Also, for great short stories, try her collection of short stories Bloodchild: And Other Stories
Also, for good old fashioned SciFi, check out Roger Zelazny. The first half of the Amber series is almost purely fantasy (while the second half is a mix of SciFi and Fantasy) so they probably don't count as an answer to this question. But Psychoshop and Donnerjack are definately fun to read.
Oh and I guess I might as well plug one of my all-time favorite authors, Kurt Vonnegut. All of them are so good that I can't even pick out one to recommend. Just try any (or all) of them.
Actually "Nowhere Man" was on UPN. This was when "ST: Voyager" first took off and UPN thought it would be a good idea to make good shows. Turns out they were wrong and it is better to make feel good (crap-tacular) comedies.
I used to love "Nowhere Man" and I was a bit miffed that they canceled the show and didn't even let them try to tie the story together (although it probably would have been hasty and very, very bad). Oh well, real life goes on!
Oh this is great. You quote the Simpsons (save for a typo) and you get modded as (+1 Informative). I want to find the moderator that did this and give his moderation a (+1 Funny).
Oh yeah, your post would get a (+1 Funny) from me if I had points.

Wow. I didn't know about this. I ran it and got pages and pages of errors. Thanks!
I remember reading this story somewhere else, and I believe the answer was "Let sleeping dogs lie"
Your definition of "social value" must quite different from mine.
How about this one?
Me too.
I also think its great when I can't figure out a problem "Mac-style" and I am able to jump to the terminal to solve my problem "Unix-style"
you can buy the lowest end 12" powerbook for $999
:)
of course you mean that the 12" iBook is $999. The 12" PowerBook start at $1799.
Those were good, but personally I liked the Reebok comercial with the Office Space reference...
*hoping that comment's poke at the iMac isn't too obscure.*
Oh, that comment is about as obscure as "George W Bush is an idiot"

Sweet! I was just thinking the other day, that someone needed to make a Blackthorne clone. This, though, is even better news.
Aaaahhhhhhh.... I still have 1 and 3 (I never got 2, I just never had money at the right time).
I should go find them and play them again. Damn they were fun. And no, I won't sell either of them to you : )
I think they are right next to my old "Sam & Max Hit the Road" disks...
If you think the asterixes are annoying, you should hear me talk :)
When I'm ranting, I usually *do* stress every other word.

Most people are *not* like you or me.

Kinda funny you mention Rosanne. Joss Wheadon wrote a few episodes back in the day. Source, IMDB

IIRC the divisors *do* need to be distinct. Eitherway, here is a link to people smarter then me arguing about it.
