I heard people jokingly call Iowa an acronym for Idiots Out Wandering Around and I believed it after working there for a summer.

The biggest problem with some economic models is that they don't consider the irrationality of a consumer. This is fine when an economy is based on manufacturing or processing/export of natural resources since that follows more rational processes.

The US economic meltdown was long overdue since the writing was on the wall with housing screaming up in value while any job that could be outsourced overseas was sent regardless of the quality and logistics issues it may create.

A consumer-based economy with jobs for the consumers disappearing is going to fail unless money is being pumped in elsewhere (AKA government welfare through various programs such as low-income assistance, subsidies, stimulus checks, etc.). This itself cannot be sustained and now our government looks for more loans from the countries we made wealthy by sending most of our manufacturing jobs (China).

Increasing taxes for the wealthy and businesses will force people to leave the US or find other ways to evade taxes. This means the middle class will bear more of the tax burden over time. There is a good analogy of beer drink buddies of various incomes splitting the tab based on income that illustrates the tax and spending dilemma.

So my opinion is that human behavior models are long overdue to be applied to economics.

However, they were on their way to porting this to PowerPC chips and using TCP/IP to a scalable multiple processor/box approach instead of a master/slave in two 486 boxes. The port to PowerPC also had forethought to write code that code be modular since the endian and bit size of the data had to be changed so code was was devised to know which architecture was being used for data.

The main reason for the port to PowerPC was the lack of 486 chips for new hardware for retrofitting other aircraft. At this point, they maybe looking for a new chip to replace the PowerPC.

Currently, it would be better to have laptops assigned to the classrooms and not to the students. The students should be using a flash drive for their personal files instead. In any scenario, using a Windows OS means dealing with malware concerns. Students could bring in bad stuff on the flash drives from use on infected home computers. A good sized volcano eruption could have a climate impact that would negate our reduction efforts.

Cap and trade will be another tax passed onto consumers. Would it not be better to set a baseline for current industries and then adjust taxes in regard to operating cleaner? The concept of rewarding businesses for doing the right thing is better than taxing for doing wrong.

The big divide between the camps on climate change are a bit to extreme. I think the environmentalists exaggerate the problems while the industries tends to downplay obvious problems. The workable solutions are toward the middle but I think the problem is if you start your stance as moderate you will end up making giving in too much to the extremists when hammering out a compromise.
