The fact is that IPv6 is being implemented. Just about every OS out there offers IPv6 in some form (*bsd, linux, cisco routers, etc). The exception being Windows, with only upgraded XP machines having it.

The problem is that there is not a big enough push for people to start using it. The technology is mostly already there, we just need to start using it.

If the mother and daughter do not sign the form, then the RIAA is potentially in trouble like you illustrated.

Here's hoping someone they trust advises them not to sign the form, since the RIAA is going to make it sound really attractive!

  7. Re:Who cares really... on The State of the Game Console Wars · · Score: 1
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4: I just sold my copy of this for the XBox. I was pretty disappointed, but then I'm not a skater, and don't know anything about the skating scene. This goes for THU you mentioned later, as well. Perhaps the game would be better with online support, but EA is lame and doesn't support XBox Live.

I'm not a skater either, but I really did enjoy this game. Perhaps it was because I was unemployed at the time and needed something to do? I don't know about Xbox Live, but the PS2 version did have online support and there was (and is) a very large community of THPS4 players online who compete and make maps, etc.

SSX: I actually preferred Amped over the SSX series, and will most likely pick up Amped 2 when it's released later this year. As well, I dislike EA and don't plan on buying any EA titles until they support XBox Live, but if I did buy SSX it's most likely be on XBox.

Never played Amped so I couldn't compare. I've only played SSX: Tricky. The game just seemed so insane I could not help having fun playing it.

Super Monkey Ball: Judging by the number of recommendations for this, I think I'm going to look for a good used copy of it soon. My only fear is that it'll turn out to be little more than the old Marble Madness game, which was frustrating.

The basic gameplay in the main game is like marble madness (but the camera follows the ball). I often got bored with marble madness, but for some reason Monkey Ball held my attention. Not to mention that there are several mini-games (like monkey bowling, monkey golf, etc) included that can be fun as well (especially with friends).

FF:CC: From what I've read, this one sounds like it'll play best with three friends and four GBAs. That's a lot of cash layout for a single game, especially since of my friends I'm the only one with a GBA. Add to that my disappointment with the last FF game I played (FFIX) and Square's love affair with Sony, and I'd have to say I'm a little jaded and probably won't return to the series for a while. But I've still got Anthology and Tactics to hold me over (need to pick up Chronicles).

The last FF game I played was FF2, but I have high hopes for this game. I'm mainly buying it for the multiplayer action. My understanding is that it won't require 4 GBA's, but it may be more enjoyable if you have them. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Mario Kart: This one looks like it could be great, but I'm afraid Nintendo's going to pull a Mario Sunshine with it (ie, it'll be nearly the exact same game as the N64 version, with slightly better graphics and only minor gameplay tweaks). If that's the case, I'll certainly buy it used later, but it's not worth $50 for a rehash of a game I've already played many, many times. I really wish Nintendo would've designed for online play, though. The LAN connector stuff that third parties are working on sounds pretty iffy, especially since the game itself won't have any compensation for lag or cheating.

I agree about the online/LAN thing. However I actually liked Mario Sunshine (although it was too short and too easy). I too hope they don't just rehash Mario Kart 64. But Mario Kart 64 was enough different than the original Mario Kart for me so there is hope!

Here are the GC games that spend the most time in my system:

o Super Smash Brothers: Melee - More fun with 4 people but still good with just 1

o Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 - I found this game very addictive and quite difficult (without the slomo cheat)

o SSX Tricky - Fun just trying to do the most insane trick you can.

o Super Monkey Ball - Just play it, you won't be disappointed.

And games I would like to add to my collection:

o The Simpsons: Hit & Run - Supposed to be the GTA of Springfield. Out soon.

    o Tony Hawk's Underground - Out soon.

o Splinter Cell - Out now.

o Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicals - Out in early (we hope) 2004.

o Mario Kart Double Dash - Out soon.

o SSX3: Out of bounds - Out soon.

o Super Monkey Ball 2 - Out now.

Obviously I can't say if many of these games are good or not since they aren't out yet, but they all have promise in my opinion.
