It might be a idea for Mozilla to make a agreement with http://toolbar.netcraft.com/ as it updates and it works pretty well. Good for both involved imho
Broadband in Ireland has only started taking off within the past 3-2 years, before this you could get 512K connections but they were crazy expensive and you would have been VERY lucky to find a home with broadband. Irelands main telco (Eircom) was still selling ISDN as "hi-speed internet access" uptill 2 years and broadband uptake is devastatingly low in Ireland as we are 2nd last in the EU for broadband penetration.
There are now 173,900 broadband connections in Ireland, so its far from high adoption. Further info http://www.irelandoffline.org/
yeah I don't think they'll remove the adverts, Infact I wouldn't be surprised if they add more to the internet broadcast then the tv network broadcast.
Either one will suck as TV networks in the US show a crazy amount of adverts compared to networks in Europe.
Not exactly cutting edge, RTE News (http://www.rte.ie/news/) in Ireland have been streaming and archiving their news broadcasts and political programs for years now, surely shouldn't the US be ahead of countries like Ireland?;)
The quality of RTE's streams are not great but their watchable.
In Ireland both Eircom (www.eircomsucks.com) and BT Ireland (www.btirelandsucks.com) have agreed in court that if any Music or Movie company asks them for customer information that they'll give it to them.
Oh come on, this is hardy new news! We'ev known for ages that IE7 will have tabs and its more ala Opera then ala Firefox given that Opera had them before any Mozilla browser did:)
Please can we get some decent news today, its a very slow day.
Lucky bastards, I hope to god its not UK only as the BBC's programming is excellent! Hate having to pay a TV license to RTE here in Ireland and getting nothing but shite programmes 24/7:(
While this may affect public trackers theirs 100's of private torrent sites out their that will remain unaffected. Worth a try by the RIAA/MPAA I suppose and it might stop Mr John Smith and/or his son but plenty of people will continue to use torrent sites.
Unlike kazaaaaaaaaaaaa *ahem* torrent sites are well enough maintained and policed and false files can be easilyed removed.
Hmm I don't know about that, Here in Ireland we could do with more then 3 Navy ships...we don't have any decent miltary planes to speak of, as for tanks we have a good few Scorpion tanks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scorpion_(tank)) alright but other then that nothing worth talking about.
Oh shit! Maybe MS will invade us first when the EU starts a war against them:P
Its sad to see him go and on the anniversary of the first moon landing no less. I'm sure he has inspired 1000's of people to get into technology....its a sad day:(
Its a service available in UK & Ireland, my girlfriend tested it out the other day and all I can say is
WHAT A OVERLY COMPLICATED HEAP OF SHITE!
Seriously, the UI sucks compared to itunes, you have to go through a crazy amount of steps just to download one song, they certainly have alot to learn.
If you sign-up for Skype you can't make outgoing calls to cell phones or landlines, you need to get credit to do this and its a big jump for the average joe.
Although its a very small thing, its great to see project gizmo offer 25c worth of credit. It allows the average joe to get their feet wet and they'll be more likely to make the jump and buy credit once they see how great it can be.

Regardless of all the above RTE still was offering streaming news back in 1999 and even further back then that...I can only confirm 1999 by using archive.org http://web.archive.org/web/19990429152727/http://
Have you nothing better to do with your life then go about correcting people's spelling and grammer? :)
sigh
hmm I don't know about that, if you remove all the BS you might not have any news from NBC at all :)

All in all a crap situation compared to Sweden
This guy is a fucken nut case, what does anybody even bother paying attention to this nutter?
:)
Has this fuckwit even gotten onto TV to air his views?
Good going to PA for donating 10k

I'm curious what benefits this offers over a standard mailbox, any ideas?

Its intergrated into the next version of Opera, however I do believe a basic Firefox extention would be most usefull :)
I'm happy to say both Ireland & the UK is already covered by iTunes, infact I was amazed to find out Japan had no service up on-till today.
kind of strange really...
This is lastyears news,
Not only has this been featured on Go Open back in 2004 ( a tv show made by Mark) but the site is also just as old.
Its about time in fairness, when people argue that some sites don't work when its set to Opera surely the same argument can be made for Firefox.
Its important that sites see realistic stats of what people are using.

When you sign up for a account it has one of those graphics with numbers that you have to re-type.
While I'm sure it can be bypassed it still should help.

I've heard its been suggested before and frankly I've been disoppointed that it hasn't been implemented. :)
I guess now it will
