I'm sorry I don't share your sentiment, but the last thing I want is all my cool hiking trails and canoeing spots full of people, families, whiny kids, garbage and commerce.

That's where I go to get away from them!

I think if she isn't in some sort of self defense class now, the court should throw her case out as she obviously wasn't scared enough to change anything about her life. Seriously, if she was ACTUALLY scared of some random person from Europe, what about the thug around the corner? Surely she'd want to learn to protect herself.

But of course she won't because she wasn't actually scared.

She's just as pathetic as the advertising company IMHO.

It's just what people tell the insurance companies. You wouldn't tell them you were packing a bowl of weed, or grabbing a beer from the backseat, or smacking your kid, or texting on your phone, or trying to grab something you dropped on the floor or whatever.

It's not OK to tune my stereo a foot to the right of me but it's perfectly safe to look over my shoulder BEHIND ME to check my blind spot?

  15. Small tesla coil on What To Cover In a Short "DIY Tech" Course? · · Score: 3, Interesting

I'm making one right now with a buddy. Parts will cost you about $75 after you find your neon sign transformer.

Start out with the transformer. Right there is a lesson in power/watts/amps etc right off the bat.

HV caps are expensive, so make some leyden jars.

Hook up your coils and caps and you've got some sparks.

Then you can move on to inductance and resonance and tune the thing.

Add a rotary spark gap, terry filter, power conditioner etc as they learn more.

Get a couple neon bulbs, build a corona motor, etc.

I've got some experience in electronics, but in the past few days my knowledge is really starting to solidify.

Plus giant sparks are fun, everyone will dig it.
