Gmail has been in beta for how long now though? Roughly 4.5 years, right? So, will chrome still be in beta half a decade from now? Beta to me starts sounding more like an excuse for why it has bugs. After all, firefox, opera safari all have bugs, but they're not hiding behind the beta excuse. IE on the other hand, should have probably never left beta or alpha for that matter.
With a nick like "MSFanBoi2," surely you would never have an axe to grind, would you? I'm also guessing you opinion is always completely non-biased and always gives a fair look to sony/linux/apple/etc. right?
It's a shame they aren't developing it for PC as well, since PCs have the potential to always outdo a console, even the PS3. It might take one heck of a system (see Crysis), but PC > Console for graphics. Hopefully they will at least port it over and add to the console version.
Even their attempts to mimic bash or opensource in general with windows (with win powershell) are half hearted. Grep is free and they still dont include it. Not to mention their default choice for text editing is notepad. Seriously, if I want to use a windows based text editor, notepad would be my last choice and doesnt even come close to vim, since it's not within the shell. I guess you could use "edit," but that's not even close to vi/vim. Thankfully there's always cygwin in the windows enviroment
how about you pick the best codec for the job, no one gives a crap about how open software is if it doesn't do the job as well.
Would have been nice if NBC had of thought of that instead of going with Silverlight for their online showings of the Olympics. No thanks on giving MS a reason to keep that nasty thing around.
Did miss the memo as to when Slashdot was bought out by The Economist? Maybe it is just a slow newsday. I did like the Dell quote though. Maybe Dell should shut down and give it's money back to the shareholders and customers. Maybe they can buy a real computer with decent tech support with that.
Just because White Man's Science has yet to be stricken down by the angered Old Gods doesn't mean it won't.
Oh, give me a break and stop trolling. Science doesn't have a color attached to it. The facts are the facts and that's what makes science so great. Unlike history and the soft sciencies out there, you can't BS your way out of the hard sciences. I suppose we should ditch all the theories and laws by men such as Newton, Dalton, Ohm, Faraday, and Telsa, because they were white or maybe rewrite science history so it's more diversified?
Then he uses lousy fhg mp3 encoding for the files. That's almost (though a stretch) like recreating the Sisteen Chapel with a 64pk of crayolas. I was a little let down that a guy this dedicated to preserving music didnt look more into details of proper.mp3 encoding. It's great what he's doing, but as the cliche goes, "You're doing it wrong (somewhat)." VBR would have been nice as well for reducing storage size. I'm doubting Glenn Miller's 1940 something rendition of "In the Mood" really needs over 3mb of space if done in 3.97 lame vbr.
I'll take a look at the sites and mess around with it some. Python always look interesting to me, but I never thought of it as being useful on the web.
There's another thing to worry about as well. A major pipeline that delivers over 1% of the world's supply of oil (most of it bound for Western Europe) could be at risk. The pipeline flows from Azerbaijan (A major oil producer and non-OPEC nation), into Georgia and finally to the Black Sea. We need that pipeline to stay intact to keep the amount of oil we get from OPEC to stay at the level it is now. I'm sure Russia wouldnt mind "accidentally" destroying this or other oil related structures in Georgia. In fact they already have come close.
The Interior Ministry said Russian warplanes also bombed the Vaziani military base on the outskirts of the Georgian capital of Tbilisi and struck near the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline. The ministry said two other military bases were hit, and that Russian warplanes also bombed the Black Sea port city of Poti, which has a sizable oil shipment facility.
Maybe it's just me, but I thought new windows went out with the invention of tabs.

I always felt the difference between swamps and marshlands, was too narrow.

That reminds me of a crude joke that seems to have truth in it at times regarding law enforcement.
"What did the Alabama patrolman say in regards to the black man found shot 16 times in the back? Worst case of suicide he'd ever seen."
Care to elaborate?
Don't forget about lolcat support. Sure, script kiddies and others will be able to break the law, but what about our feline friends?
I see someone knows their string theory and quantum physics, lol. Great comment though, gave me a good laugh.
sure beats long hours of break out and super breakout
Awfully trollish and anti-google, aren't we? I suppose gmail doesnt count? And please name a mass email service that's better.

It's a good thing I only bought a horizontal from them. I've heard the diagonal models are still safe as well, but for how long?

Python 3 is still in beta. And python on the web? No thanks.
Isn't that why there aren't any driver issues with vista?
I guess you've missed most of the comments on /. the past 5 years
Haha, I've heard all the stereotype jokes before, but is that a typo or a Freudian Slip?
I must have been asleep during US History class, when did the Russians burn down the first time?
