Someone was saying to put it up as a "just in case" type station. For instance, if we've got a manned mission to mars we could navigate the space station to Mars or the moon, we could put the ISS in orbit in advance, and if anything went wrong on with the vehicle they could just jet up to the station. Maybe we could use it as a remote shuttle repair station?(oversimplifying sure, but IANARS) Possibly saving the life of an astronaut.

Even if you don't believe in Santa Claus - is it going to really cause you that much hassle to leave a couple of cookies and a glass of milk out on Christmas Eve just in case?
Is fools logic. It's how salesmen made killings. Let me explain. If you spend time doing something, and have 0 gains, you actually have negative gains because you wasted your time. If you had to milk a cow and bake the cookies, your time might be better spent on something else.
For a recent verizon issue I had, Upgrade early, and there's a $20 fee, you loose the $100 every two bonus (it restarts from time of upgrade) And you pay the current contract price for the phone. Looking at a $79 phone for the wife & I (one account is eligable, the other is not) What is the cost of upgrading the phone? if you thinkn the "real" cost is $99 you'd be forgetting the $100 bonus you'd get in 2 months.
So the real cost is 2 months to wait for a new phone and 0 upgrade costs, or get the phone right now and spend $200 (100 "real" dollars, and a guaranteed $100 should you wait) If you feel it's worth $100 a month to have a state of the art phone, great for you, but I'm not so sold, and thus I don't care. I'll wait as my income means more to me than that, but that is an exercise for the person in that position. If you're phones broke, what choices do you have?
While the risk is REAL and has value to switch from FTP to SFTP etc... the people who make those decisions have to do a risk/benefit analysis. Small companies won't come out on top (in favor of a switch)as far as security is concerned unless they get hacked 10 times in a row. It's just not economical for them, and so I'm all for setting it to default for all new users, then posting a bulletin to all your customers, along w/ an e-mail and written letter explaining why you did this.
In a some-ways-similar situation, my bank alerted me that a major credit card company had ben compromised and my credit card was on their list. They said you should take this time to change your card. I figured, well, I monitor my account really well, have purchases text me, etc... so I didn't really wory, and felt I may be in a rare position to help authorities catch the criminals. 3 months later, they sent me a letter and changed it anyway, they didn't want the risk.
most all wheel drive cars are slower off the line than their two wheel drive counterparts.
SO true. It's how I beat those WRX's everyone's got. My car's not that fast. The AWDs have got good bite, they kind of " jump" off the line, and if one cathes me at the line I have a tough time... until he hits about 20 mph.... Then the crude torque just chomps em down like a starving dog at turned over dumpster from a cheap buffet and I overtake them until we hit a corner.
that's where I'm confused, cause I've been on a busa taking a hairy turn in Yelm, WA at 110+ (I quit looking when the front edged up a bit while deep in the lean...) a motorcycle can corner pretty dang well.
lol sorry, I work in Healthcare so It's hard not to debunk myths like this. 8')
BTW, in my car, my radio presets are flashed (stock 2000 pontiac monsoon stereo) It's so nice to disconnect the battery and still have stations set. It's especially good since my display backlight died a year ago. I'm just now getting around to replacing it. I've got a sony MEX-5700 coming that I'm waiting on installation funds to have it put in. I hope it has the same feature!
Dude, your lifestyle is killing you. Literally. STOP NOW. Hit monster on your "free time" and find a job closer to home, or move closer to work. Your life expectancy is allready shredded by working night shift. Working those hours combined w/ night shift has you on the fast path to the light at the end of the tunnel. It'll be a train wreck. You'll die suddenly. It's going to be a heart attack or a stroke or fall asleep at the wheel. Probably on the job or on the way home. Hopefuly @ work so you don't kill anyone else. Your family won't understand why it is that you passed so suddenly and so soon. Your friends and colleagues are sad, but you don't see them anyway so most won't attend your funeral. You're close family will remember your graduation, and that one year you had chrsitmas off. A girl you knew in highschool will cry for you, but it was so long ago, that she'll mention it as a sidebar conversation when she see's other classmates.
If this sounds like I'm trying to scare you, its because I am, and It's also a very real scenario.
Life is too short to play these kind of games for long. Fix your work life, and the rest will probably just "flow." Theres so much scientific evidence against these kind of conditions I can't imagine anyone working this way on purpose.
"ignore lanes clearly marked for them (why they DON'T right in the dedicated lanes that DO exist is beyond me)"
This is because (at least where I live) the effen lane is full of all sort of debris from wrecked cars. Not only do we have to avoid gravel brought on the road by cars, but we also have glass, spark plugs, nuts bolts, head lights, broken everythings, bumpers etc..
While the suspension in my car may feel almost every pebble (it's my stiffy) Bikes have little to no suspension, and those that have "good" suspension cost a lot of dough. I've got a Hardtail w/ front suspension and lockouts for road riding. I have to stay to the very Left of the bike lane in order to avoid flats. I'm burning through a tire in 1000mi instead of 3k and I'm riding on on Kevlar. This makes the tires on my bike more expensive per mile than the tires on my car! In fact it's almost 4x more expensive / mile.
I live in a fairly bike friendly place, Olympia, WA. though not as friendly as say, Denver, CO. we have some trails and lots of bike lanes, but they are not maintained, and so they do no good to us.
The only thing I can think of would be like telling an average person (non-suv) that they have to commuteon a logging road w/ broken glass bottles mixed in with the gravel. They'd take one look at you and say you're crazy, but us cyclists (and I'm a car enthusiast as well) have to do that every day we ride. God forbid if we fall in that mix of dirt, grease and skin shredders.
When I drive, I treat cyclists and motorcycles as if they were semi-trucks. (minus the drafting part)
Thanks for your input, and I hope this enlightens you a touch to the hardships we face as cyclists.
P.S. I just got the derailer hanger for my bike! I get to ride to work again!
My comment was tongue in cheek (as often is the case) about actually pirating the game, but I really hope that "We would not take out LAN if we did not feel we could offer players something better." Is the unadulterated truth, and not just spouting off what they think people might want to hear.
Until I read about this. HOLY crap am I pissed. I used to work somewhere with a 5$/hr gaming machine rental on a lan of about 10-15 machines. Starcraft, Q2, CS, TF were HUGELY popular lan games we allways had people doing group play 2v2 etc. We did tons of tournaments too that were often won w/ a zerg rush or an a carrier warp.
Those were the good ol days!
We're all going to have to wait for Total Annihilation 3?
Am I the only one to question whether there is a real problem? Did I read it wrong (ADD so it's possible)
What if the File allocation size is just different on the two drives? Then the exact same file can, and WILL be different sizes on disk, no harm, no foul, but maybe fowl in the way of the transmision route.
For instance, if you write a 6k file to a HDD w/ a 4096b allocation size, it's going to take up 8k(ish worth of space, despite the file being 6k.
Now if you write that same file to a system w/ 512b allocation size, that 6k file will take about 6k.
And it can get smaller by 4-xkb in a situation where a newer system with a larger allocation size is sending a file to a (usually) older system w/ a smaller allocation size.
Then again, maybe I failed math. but I thought that's why there's "Size" then "Size on disk"
it's low voltage DC on the panel side. No need to be a qualified anything.
here's the steps for replacing panels:
Disconnect or throw DC breaker. Undo old panels from bracket. Remove the grounding wire from panel. Remove DC wires from panel.
Installing new panels is reverse of removal.
Adding panels:
Disconnect DC breaker. Mount the new brackets to your roof. Thread cables through your pre-existing conduit. connect cables to the combiner box side. Wire panels in to the desired voltage of your inverter. (IE for a 48v inverter wire 2 24v panels in series) mount panels to brackets.
Yeah, try bending and routing that bigger wire. It's all fine and dandy, untill you thread it through conduit. Then it's CRAZY hard to put it in the shape you need it, so you either need to have bigger conduit, or smaller wire.
Yeah, AC is positive ~60 times a second, but for some reason a lot of people use "HOT" and "Positive" in this weird interchangable way that makes NO sense to me, except that I made the same mistake when I first bought my house (I was a young 23 at that time) I even knew the differences between AC / DC (band reference not intended, but acceptable) but just didn't know the "hot" terminology.
HOT= Chicks I'd like to bang, and black wires. Neutral= Switzerland & white wires. Ground= What you don't want to hit when flying an R/C plane except in a contorlled soft landing, but the electrical definition of ground is complicated. Sometimes ground is a common point, like on a car. Sometimes ground is actually "The Ground" like dirt. I think there is one other definition, but I can't remember it atm.
All I keep seeing around here is the depreciating power generation of solar panels... blah blah blahh...
It takes maybe an hour of your time, and ~$100-200/panel to replace 20 panels.
If in 15 years, he buys new panels, with better efficiency, for 4k, and an hours worth of his time, he's just reset his investment with a MUCH better payoff. The cabeling, and inverter will not fail that fast. The inspection won't change for a replacement. There'll be virtually 0 costs.
I have 600w of grid tied, net & production metered solar on my house. The coolest part? I did it for almost nothing. Bought everything on E-bay. Hardest part was complying with code, which looking back was really just a mere nuisance.
This isn't rocket science. If you pay someone to do it, they have to charge a ton because they are 1. Licensed electricions, 2. It's a business 3. they require certain bonds and insurances.
If you do it yourself (can you understand parallel & series circuits and do you know how to count, add, multiply, etc volts, amps & watts? you're qualified!) to your own house, you can get a system for MUCH less than 50K. bonus as your ROI is better, even better is that it makes more extreme lattitudes viable.
It's not ton's of $, but it does keep the house cool.
They put you on bypass machine, which pumps blood for you. It's not the same at all, but it's not all that much different. It's amazing how mechanical surgery is.
I did a google search for Site: *.craigslist.org DGL-4500.
I came up w/ a few hits, the second one I clicked was geographically speaking relatively close (E. Oregon vs. Oly, WA) The were asking like $60! I told em I'd pay 70 if they shipped it.
I deposited the money straight to their account thinking that the price justified the risk, and since I had a reciept if I didn't get it, i could probably find a way to prosecute them.
It showed up at my house faster than if I woulda drove to pick it up! and it worked! and it was packaged well!
I had to pinch myself, cause I thought I was dreaming.
Interestingly enough, it was a gaming GIRL who sold it! I would have fallen in love if I wasn't allready happily married (to a non gaming chick of the hot, cooks & has a good job variety).
It's only certain judgements that can't be dismissed. Honestly, a bankruptcy doesn't even do much to your credit after a few years of good payment history. (my wife had one a few years before we met)
judgements. She'll die more in the hole than that due to interest that she can't afford to pay. Me, I'd quit my job, go on welfare, and start a virus that secretly uploads 100 cd's a month from whoever's computer it infects.
It's just free marketing, because the parent company doesn't really pay to anyone else to do it. Typical business accounting, I'm sure they pay eachother, it's just that the books equal out in the end. Not really marketing externally as your other examples were.
Google knows that it's super clean search results interface is why we google in the first place. It won't stab itself in the eye to market its products, so you are right that it's more O.K. on the Youtube side than the search engine side.
Was to list the situation on my voicemail, then send all calls to it while working on the problem, as well as an "away message" in Outlook. My boss has my pgr #, my users don't. This makes it so the people who NEED to get ahold of me can, and the others can get a quick 2 min version of what's going on.
Could someone please respond? I think this is an unfair modification.
