You forgot that their are about 4 weeks in a month.

    Assuming a worker is employed @ 15$/hr
    and There are 2 GM/s / realm (1 horde / 1 alliance(just guessing))

    At 24/7 coverage
    (24 hrs /day )*(7days a week)* (4 weeks / month)= (roughly)672 subscribers * 2 GMs = 1344 subscribers just to pay their monthly support salaries / realm.

Still a drop in the bucket though. Bandwidth costs are probably much higher. I think that their monthly input from subscriptions is only about 10% more than their monthly costs. (A 10% profit is pretty high though) You still have to realize that their is constant content creation, continuous bandwidth, server, and maintenence issues.

Anyone know what the profit margin is? I don't think it's as huge as people make it out to be.
Profitable enough to grow the business thats for shure!

I see your point, but you proved it yourself when you talk of simulator games. It is long known that simulator graphics suck. You have to draw a much further distance, it takes a great deal of power to pruduce a realistic looking terain. It's just not there yet. Infact sims are far more graphically intensive than most "TWITCH" games you describe. Not to mention that on a sim, it's likely you'll have more monitors to output data to.

P.S. I was just proving a point, I like to play the Price/performance ratio game. I feel that I need to make the best of about $1500 when I build a computer for my self.

Yeah I don't know... I had a walmart (o.k. It was a K-mart...) bike. I got it because I was so excited to have a full suspension bike for $150 USD. It lasted me about 100 miles. The last 30 were hell. The chain bounced around alot, the casette was trash. I rode it hard for a week, then as I could for a month, then it went to hell and I swore off bikes.

Fast forward a few years. I put $650 USD into a decent hard tail on recomendation from a friend, and WOW. My life is better. Yeah I have to worry about parts getting stolen, but My workplace has bicycle closets, and I park it in a private garage the only other two places I ride. It's faster, lighter, fits better, and far more durable than anything from Walmart. I am getting road slicks put on today, and i can't wait to see how much better it rides on the street.

No offense, a bike is a bike if you don't have one. Back when I had my K-mart bike I didn't have the money to put into a nice bike. If you do have the $ it will pay off upgrading to a nice bike. Believe me, you get what you pay for when it comes to quality bicycles. YMMV (pun intended)

One caveat... Once you ride a 5-600 dollar bike, you want to see what a $1000 dollar bike rides like...

His head is weasel shaped, but he manages to blow the same powerful dragon breath. His body is slender, and very flexible, covered in fur. Let's pet him a bit. Good dragonweezel. Look at this long pointed reptillian tail protruding from his bottom. It helps to ballance him in flight, and the pointy barb at the end can be used defensivly. Watch how he stalks his prey. Sometimes a dragonweezel will skewer his prey with a stick and then cook him to about 500 degrees before ingesting their chard remains. Crikey that poor politician didn't stand a chance. Did you see how he quickly winked at us before he reached in with a single claw and devoured him whole? You should not approach one unless your true of heart.

You are young in your knowledge of games... It is apparent in your typing. (Don't worry, I am young in my knowledge of english, and I am a white american born and raised here) The reason you want high frame rates is so that when the action gets intense, the frame rates don't dip below a certain level. For instance: If your in say Q4 and your playing by your self on level x. You expect the Framerate to be about 100 or so, (way higher than the necesary 40-60 right?) but what happens when your online with the distance maxed out, and you have a ton of people on screen firing their graphicly intense weapons? You don't see 100 fps anymore. Not even close. Because normally you have 3-5 people on screen, now you have 20, and those 20 are all firing some weapon that has massive special effects.

Lets try WoW. In PVE when your just leveling or doing the occasional 5 man, you have a few things going on here and there. Your frame rate stays at 50-60 When you hit 60 and start farming MC all the sudden you have massive effects, AOE spells, 40 differant people with 40 differant visual effects running, BOOM(sound of machine grinding to hault) FPS at 19 (thats if you have SMOKIN specs)

I agree that frame rate junkys tend to concentrate on the fps in game x with hardware Y vs hardware Z. But do understand that there is a reason for it.

I say play at a Resolution you can afford.
