The first atomic clock, developed near this site by Harold Lyons at the National Bureau of Standards, revolutionized timekeeping by using transitions of the ammonia molecule as its source of frequency. Far more accurate than previous clocks, atomic clocks quickly replaced the Earth’s rotational rate as the reference for world time. Atomic clock accuracy made possible many new technologies, including the Global Positioning System (GPS).
and posted it in a park in Washington DC near where the original work was done.
There's a difference in talking about a personal risk to an individual (diving, motorcycle, etc) and the shared risk of communicable diseases in a society (transfusion, sex, etc).
In the first case, sure, go nuts and potentially darwin yourself out of the gene pool.
In the second case, increasing the prevalence and transfer of communicable disease is irresponsible to wide group of people who have a right to voice a concern.
That whole competitive video gaming thing seems like one enormous scam targeted at gullible children. Seriously who the fuck are the mindless drones that basically play one gamer over and over and over and over and over, to bloody infinity.
Why do people spectate traditional sports? I don't do it myself much, but I get the impression it is to enjoy the skill of impressive players.
Do you let your heart bleed for traditional sports players? They're playing the SAME GAME over and over, so sad.
Everyone knows exactly what nuclear winter means. There can be non-nuclear causes but "blotting out 10% of the suns energy" is not as dramatic or concise.
In that case, the sun's energy would be LITERALLY DECIMATED.
TMS uses a magnetic paddle to induce a current a couple centimeters away from the paddle. This allows for electrical stimulation within the skull that does not cross through the skull.
With direct current stimulation the current passes through your scalp and skull.
Why would you want to pass a current through your scalp and skull? It will cause potentially painful scalp twitching. You'll need to use a higher current because of the resistance of your scalp and skull. This is a cheap gimmick with many downsides compared to TMS.
It's odd to see transcranial direct current stimulation instead of transcranial magnetic stimulation. Why would you rather have a current pass through your scalp instead of a magnetic field?
It feels like the infomercial for the abdominal electrode belt that would give you a six-pack. This is a step backwards towards cheap electrodes that are easily marketed instead of forward toward TMS that can stimulate a wider variety of areas without mildly cooking your scalp.
I have seen a bounce house before. They're actually pretty common. Bounce houses have some rules about rough play, but can still be used by astronauts. So this is definitely not the world's first inflatable room, for astronauts or otherwise.
Perhaps this is "Space's First Inflatable Room"? Or more accurately LEO's first.
Turns out it's some billionaire. https://science.slashdot.org/s...
You havenâ(TM)t entirely misssed it, itâ(TM)s ongoing until moonset in Texas around 6:50.
Seems like all the events are July through October 2012. Did any part of this happen recently?
Tokyo is preparing even weirder foods? I'd read about that.
Oh, floods. Boo.

And turn her into a penguin?

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) works a lot better.

So the whole tech sector is about 5 religion. And the US GDP is 17 religion. It's as good of a totally arbitrary unit as any, I guess.

Overrated at 1? Ouch.

This is a very nice example of moving the goalposts. Next time, don't bring up definitions if you aren't prepared to cite a dictionary.

There should be a moderation for "Classy". Well done.
Yes it does, also which pets we have and which area we live in.
Here's a two minute clip discussing it:

I'd also like to see an update to the iPod shuffle. A tiny e-ink indicator (bars, dots, whatever) to know the battery life in 20% increments.
Didn't they just update the shuffle with a OLED screen and a band?

Hmm, my dictionary says I meant conceding.
