... a candidate who'd just had it revealed he has serious problems with women (to put a politically correct spin on it), who is/was telling people he wouldn't accept the results of the election if he loses...

We have a little over 318 million people in this country. If one of them is upset over the election results I'm not going to get too upset over it. I fully expect Mr. Trump to make a spectacle after he loses the election, but it's going to be funny, Comedy gold, not something to be concerned about.

  2. I don't know enough about the laws and regulations of the US to judge, but what facebook does seems close to subliminal marketing which the FCC revokes broadcast licences for.

Not sure where you got that idea. There are no rules or laws regarding sublimal messaging. At one point the FCC issued a policy statement saying the use of subliminal perception is contrary to the public interest. That's pretty far from what you are asserting.

  3. White (rgb #FFFFFF) means "I want the very brightest possible, like staring at the sun." It should be used very sparingly if at all, in my humble opinion. I have a new monitor which I'm not completely happy with as white backgrounds cause significant eye strain.

That being said, most of the websites I use have a stark white background so my opinion obviously doesn't count for much.

  4. you do realize that the "kiddy fiddler" thing was Trump saying he was looking forward to dating someone when they turned 20, right? Well after they're no longer a child?

This conversation took place between Donald Trump and a ten year old girl. Where I come "I'd like to fuck you but you're not old enough yet" is not appropriate conversation between a grown man and a preteen girl.

That's him bragging about sexual assault and saying he gets away with it because he believes himself to be above the law. Nixon was impeached for thinking the same thing.

Given at various times Trump has made disparaging remarks about blacks, hispanics, muslims, immigrants, women, war veterans, reality show contestants, beauty pageant winners, and said he'd like to bang his own daughter who is going to vote for him? White male dumbfucks is the only demographic he hasn't yet insulted.

Even top level Republicans are saying they'd rather vote for Hillary Clinton. Anyone who thinks Donald Trump has a chance of being elected is entirely delusional.

That is just called annoyance, not health risk. The brief few seconds outdoor smell exposure you are talking about is probably something unmeasurably small, like 0.00000000001% the exposure of actual smoking. Once you walk into the building, you probably are breathing a zillion times more contaminates from paints, perfumes, plastics, carpets, wood preservatives, cleaning products, etc., continuously for many hours, day after day.

It's just an annoyance to you, perhaps, but a life-threatening health issue to me and a subset of people with serious respiratory illnesses like athsma and COPD. My airways constrict when exposed to smoke. Paints, perfumes, plastics, etc. are just fine - I have no problem with them. Smoke for some reason is a trigger and people like me are the reason smokers are exiled to the great outdoors. You're welcome.

Assault weapons, I'm on the fence. I don't have an immediate need for one, but if I can get a bargain at one of these auctions, it might come in handy some day...

  14. I rather enjoy the community aspect of going to the movies. The Rocky Horror Picture Show absolutely must be seen in a theater. The experience is highly dependent on the crowd. I was lucky and saw it at the midnight matinee at my college campus theater. It was a real eye-opener.

My girlfriend and I saw Do the Right Thing in a suburb of Boston and I swear we were the only white people in the theater. As the tension heated up on screen, I thought "we're not getting out of here alive." Of course, nothing happened. Nobody paid us any attention. But I learned something about myself that I wouldn't have watching it at home.

I saw this Pink Floyd concert movie in a local mall and there were maybe eight other people in the theater, all of them smoking pot. It was a very mellow afternoon.

I can't say I've ever had a bad experience in a theater. Of course, if you go see a G rated movie there's going to be kids running around going crazy. But what did you expect?

  20. What do they want? More hand jobs and blow?

My acute senses are alerting me that this may be, in fact, a rhetorical question.

I've noticed since the economic depression circa 2008 people think it is much more acceptable now to just ask you to give them money. For the small town I live in, there are an extrodinary number of panhandlers*. Their proposal is this: you give me money and I'll do nothing in return. That's a pretty good deal for one of us, but it's not me.

    * That's the euphamism they prefer to be called now too. It's not like they are panning for gold in the mountains of California, they are begging. Rather than face the fact, they have to lie to themselves and insist everybody calls them panhandlers. And society appears to just play along with all this.

  21. Sure, it's very easy to lose all your visitors, too, if that's your goal. It's not like there aren't millions of other porn sites out there for free.

Frankly, I think if one has the capacity to lie when they click the "Yes, I'm over 18" button, then it is perfectly acceptable they have a healthy wank in the privacy of their own homes. I'd much rather they do that than knock up the girl next door.

I really don't care what other people do in their bedrooms. If I'm not involved, I'm not interested. I don't understand the mindset of people who care enough to make it a public issue. They must have had a bad experience during toilet-training, I guess.

  22. I don't understand why you Republicans constantly lie about that. We all know damn well you're spouting Republican talking points with that lie. Nixon coined that phrase in 1971.

Guess what what, shithead. Nixon was a Republican. I see a one-to-one correspondence between people who don't have shit for brains, and that identify as Republicans. Can't be a coincidence at this point. By the way, enjoy losing yet another presidential election because you don't have the mental facultites to recognize and deal with reality. That's why you've got the candidate you do. The people who actually have the capacity to deal with adult issues in an adult manner are laughing at you. It would be funny if not so absurdly tragic.

  23. You can put the sites/modules you want in the proper directories without running any commands.

How do you do that? Just thinking about it? Because otherwise you will have to use at least one command.

  24. According to his diary, Adam Landza passed up shooting up the Denver airport and instead decided on a movie theatre which explicitly prohibited guns because he understood it was unlikely he'd encounter armed resistance and could kill more people.

I doubt it, seeing as Adam Lanza shot up a bunch of elementary school kids in Newtown Connecticut. James Holmes did the theater shooting in Aurora Colorado. I think it's important, when talking about your mass murderers, to get the attributions correct.

  25. Nothing is illegal until you get caught.

That's likely the stupidest comment I've read on Slashdot. Quite an accomplishment, really.
