No OEM would ship an OS without a browser so that argument is worthless. But I'm all for allowing MS to ship Windows with IE as long as I can completely remove it like I can do with pretty much any other program in Windows or any program in Linux.
You can argue that the ability to play movies and audio is just as important these days so why no let MS tie WMP into the OS or tie in Outlook express, MS Messenger and even go one step further and combine it with Office and tie it completely into the OS? People want and need the functionality in those programs.

More so on consoles where you have one set of hardware to work with. There is no excuse for launch day/week patches when, for so many years, consoles got by fine without patches and managed to get out the door without being a heap of shit.
I blame Microsoft for that bring the shitty PC game development attitude to console gaming.

Apple can buy up EA and make a deal with Sony to not make games for MS based consoles in return for a sweet deal on Sony's music. Then they get the best of everything.
They get games, music and can fuck over a rival in the PC and console gaming market.
If they bought EA and quit making PC games and started making Mac games that would give them a huge advantage and really screw MS over with consumers.
I had a C64 too but I'd consider that more of a computer than a console just like the MSX which did share titles between itself and the NES. The other basically came about because Nintendo got people buying games consoles again.
Given Nintendo's 2 year lead on the master system in Japan and it's year lead on the 7800 and the Master system meant they had more than enough time with no real competition establish the clear lead and in turn use it to do things like bully retailers.
Which gets back to my original point in that Nintendo didn't really have to buy exclusive games because they gained control through other means making it stupid for developers not to work on the NES.
I am anti hand guns because there is enough evidence connecting hand gun ownership to deaths by it. (Will NOT provide references.) The more hand guns owned in a society, the more casualties. The US as the predominant example have developed into a society where raising your voice is considered more threatening and rude than bearing fire arms.
