In the US that may be the case because your government doesn't want to help its citizens but the EU says we can re-sell out digital content so the idea isn't out of the question in countries that care about their citizens.
The complaints about the 360 becoming an entertainment system and less of a game system have been growing. I know my 360 spends most of its time collecting dust. I definitely feel like it doesn't want to be a gaming machine.
Whatever people think of the Wii doesn't really matter because it's all based on things they hear others repeat. For example everyone says no one plays their Wii. If you calculate out the attach rate with the hardware and software numbers from Nintendo's financial reports, the Wii attach rate is more or less the same as the 360. So I suspect most Wiis aren't just sitting in a closet otherwise that means the minority of gamers buy an insane amount of Wii games.
But compared to the PS3 in the US that's probably right given that's really Microsoft's only strong market but I'd also say there's growing annoyance with Microsoft since it's trying to market itself towards more people than gamers and between the advertisements and games getting pushed to the side, I think they need to be careful with how they move on from the 360.
Yeah he also made his money when a lot of people didn't have computers let alone net access so piracy was less of a problem and even when something was pirated it wasn't automatically available to the whole world. I suspect that makes a difference. That and it was cheaper and quicker to make a game compared to now. Making a Mario Bros clone is something one or two people can do. Making a GTA clone will take many more people or if only two people do it, it'll take a lot longer.
It's not completely fair to compare the Apple ][ days to now and I don't blame him (or others) wanting some protection in order to able ot make money. Android should be a much more attractive platform than it is but it's not because piracy is much higher there and imo Google isn't that bothered about it. They don't care how much developers make and it benefits them more if you plug their ads into your game rather than just asking for a bit of money from people.
The state of the competition is both the Wii (and DS) sold a fuckton more than the 360 and the PS3 is only like 3 million units behind it and that's after launching 1 year later, a significantly more expensive system, and a bunch of bad PR. A lot of people just don't want to be part of the xbox experience because it's expensive and offers nothing new.
The success of the xbox? Wii raced right pasted it and the despite launching a year later and a boat load of bad PR the PS3 has caught up to it by a few million. So it's effectively tied for last place with the PS3 and way behind the Wii.
It did well enough but I wouldn't call it a great sucess. It's not that popular outside of North America so if America turns its back on the next xbox it's pretty much dead.
Just to note, I'm not a fanboy. In fact I've never owned an iphone but I am an Android owner since the release of the G1 and I'm well aware of how meh it's been. I'm sure it's better now and if I decide I need a tablet I'll consider Android but only because I can't see myself needing a tablet enough to pay Apple's prices. Otherwise the ipad is without a doubt a better all around piece of hardware and no it's not really good for everyone because both side are definitely guilty of fighting over patents.
The best thing that could happen to consumers is the US patent office sorts itself out.
No one forces you to use the Mac app store and sandboxing is a good thing. I hate to tell him it's only going to increase across all systems. Sandboxing apps isn't going away.
Android has all sorts of fun interesting things like mutli touch bugs (http://androinica.com/2011/12/galaxy-nexus-owners-experiencing-multi-touch-issues-ics-to-blame/) and screen separation issues (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1781237&page=73) which you get to fix all by yourself.
Face it, Android is low budget shit. It's no surprise, Google only cares that it works well enough for them to get all your personal data and track you.
If it's a non story why doesn't MS tell the truth then? Could it be that most families aren't so in love with MS that they wouldn't eat out their asshole if told to?
I don't know who should get to choose but clearly it doesn't work when most people don't want to pay. The sad thing is it's not like they can say they can't afford it. It's $1. You can hardly buy anything decent for $1 these days so imo there's very little justification for pirating something so cheap.
The game was worth more than $1 anyway but their reactions just show why, imo, mobile gaming is bound to die. People expect something for nothing and maybe that's fine when you're making pacman clones but the effort put into mobile games is going to reach the same as full games at some point and continuing to expect free games or even $1 games that are worth playing is just not going to happen.
I certainly wouldn't want to gamble my personal finances on it.
Piracy is on every platform but if the majority decide to be a pack of freetards then it's not worth a developer's time. Google does need to address is because eventually developers will get sick and tired of it.
piracy exists on every platform. The question is can you at least get enough people to pay for it to make it worth your while. Obviously a lot of people are finding that hard to do on Android. People just don't understand being a total freetard doesn't work when the majority agrees and decides to do the same thing.
A smaller tablet with a lower resolution and all the ipad benefits (ie no SD card) and it's all controlled by an advertiser that wants me to hand over all my personal data. Where do I sign up?
In the UK we have (afaik) one shop, Sainsburys that has a normal battery drop-off but there's no way it'd fit a laptop battery which seems silly to me. At least it's slowly catching on.
You mean so people can't be honest out of fear of being labeled a communist, nazi, racist, freedom hater and whatever else people feel like calling them and holding everything they've said against them forever.
People can argue it will stop trolling and harassment but it won't. People do that shit on TV, in real life and they do it on facebook under their real name. The thing that will be hurt the most removing anonimity is freedom of expression against your government, corporations and anyone else that's happy to throw your ass in jail for no good reason.
They are an advertising company and their data is worth loads more if they can tie it to a real person. So it's no surprise they pushed real names on Google+ and are now trying to push them on Youtube. I'd fully expect to see this slow get pushed out more and more.
That's why I've refused to put my real name on my G+ account (not that use it anyway) and am moving away (admittedly slower than I was hoping) from using Google services. I rather pay a reasonable price for services than hand over my life to an advertising company.

Considering how many games companies have gone bankrupt over the years you can hardly act as if his company going bankrupt is unique.
You're a retard,

Yeah Apple hardware is soooo boring.

Don't worry, bro. I'm buying even more to make up the difference.
They can just, in theory, not online.
You're an idiot. Cars aren't free.

What they mean is Microsoft came down on them Sandusky on a 10 year old to get them to soften up their review.

Tne Bronies are a bunch of douchebags.
