The marble didn't come to you in the shape of a statue either. They're not sourcing raw materials and building chips and components in the US. They're getting pre-built pieces and plugging some of them together. Hell do they even do any electronics or are they plugging in a complete board intoa US made case?
If they want appreciation they can start by paying their fair share of tax. Slapping some Chinese hardware into a US case does not make me think anything different of them.
You're comparing someone buying a US made processor and putting it into a much larger device primarily made of Chinese bits, vs Google taking 90% Chinese work and slapping it inside a US case and calling it American made. It's not exactly the same scenario whether people agree or disagree with you.
If I build a trophy out of lego and put it on a bit of wood I made, it doesn't change the fact 95% of the trophy was made elsewhere. Assembling it doesn't change that.
He's not even mentioned Jobs or other famous people that didn't finish university. But more importantly he didn't list all the people with a CS degree that have a shit low paid going no where job just waiting to be off-shored.
Yeah but some studies claim not getting any sun can make you more likely to get skin cancer. Perhaps if you never see the sun when you do go out skin can't handle it. So if you go down that route the only safe option is to never go out.
I hope it gets to the point where no devices can be launched on time. Hopefully then someone will pull their damned finger out and fix the patent problems.
There's nothing forcing you to use it but any OS without a CLI is an OS not worth owning. Nothing everything to cater only to the lowest common denominator.
I've had to deal with the whole corrupt account cookie bug that leaves buttons not working (which in itself seems odd) and no error so I'm first thinking my phone is busted, a few updates left maps working weirdly, quite frankly I find it annoying the market shows me things that just won't work on my phone but nothing implies my phone's not up to the job and when I try to download it gives an error that implies it's a connection issue rather than it's not going to give it to me because I shouldn't have it.
I'm sure newer versions are better but I'm finding it hard to justify giving it another go but there's nothing out there I really care to buy so if something new comes out and looks like a decent contender then yes I'd be willing to consider it.
I hear tons of talk about Onlive and Gaikai from investor and analyst types but who is actually playing on these systems because I've never heard anyone actually say they use these systems.
My experience with Android has been less than stellar to put it kindly and I don't quite feel up to paying for an iphone so this will definitely be something I look at. Plus it would be nice to support someone who isn't interested in locking me in or stealing all my data to sell me stuff.
The more the better. It means people will actually have to use standards to target the most people and competition is always a good thing. Apple is getting a bit lazy and Android is still a POS so the competition is needed.
If your old phone has all the new stuff you're less likely to buy a new phone. Manufacturers have no incentive to update their phones and I suspect they'll fight any initiative that tries and force them to do it.
Sorry he has issues over an imaginary character but I'll take 60's batman over the 90's films any day. The Bale versions aren't bad but that doesn't change that 60's batman was awesome.
You can say they stole something when they paid for it and claiming they haven't innovated either is rather silly. You're clearly biased and no matter what the truth is you're always going to see them as being the bad guy. That's ok though. People are usually happier when they live in a fantasy world.
It's the adapter for the Tab 10.1 and I would say all those things on their own would be fine but if you just happen to do everything the same way a competitor does then it certainly looks like you're trying to cause consumer confusion and it's not innovation. It's the exact opposite so it's not Apple is some how damaging the market by defending their design patents.
Whether you like it or not you can patent a design. Should be able to? Probably not but then again most software patents shouldn't exist either. They do exist and they're certainly within their right to defend it. Unlike most android fanboy fud they didn't patent rectangles or rounded corners. Otherwise they could after virtually every single tablet there is. They patented their specific design of the ipad and yes Samsung is doing their best to make the Tab 10.1 look just like it.
Just like on the box they don't even show the home screen. The iphone shows its home screen but Samsung shows their application screen so it implies when you turn it on it'll look similar to an ipad.
Defending your patents against one unit is hardly a story in comparison to Motorola holding back FRAND patents against numerous companies which, imo, deserves more attention than being a little note at the bottom.
No one said Apple invented USB connectors, docks, etc. But just like Ford and Chevy both make cars if Chevy starts making cars identical to Ford's cars then Ford would kick up a fuss. The only reason such a thing doesn't happen is because patent and trademark issues are taken care of before launching unlike computers where they pretty much do what they want and hope for the best.
And I suspect you'll find most of the crap people such as yourself spew about what Apple stole isn't exactly true. For example, Apple paid Xerox in exchange for them sharing. Xerox has no one to blame but bad management. http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2011/05/16/110516fa_fact_gladwell
Just like their design patents don't patent rounded corners or rectangles but the truth doesn't always suit Android fanboys.

butt hurt fanboy is butt hurt.
Exactly. More people need to be talking about this. The corporationification of charities is not a good thing.

Yeah Microsoft will be like all those big brands like Nokia and Kodak and live on forever.
I have done as have many others but for the time being it seems corporate money speaks louder than people who are concerned about doing things right.

So supposedly the next xbox and or PS will try to put an end to used game sales. It sounds like that's against our rights.
I hope it gets to the point where no devices can be launched on time. Hopefully then someone will pull their damned finger out and fix the patent problems.
The Motorola licence would probably only cover Motorola devices and not devices made for them (ie Asus hardware).

Not a bad idea but who is going to pay full price for a phone especially when bills probably won't be reduced.

To be fair not trademarks in the strictest sense but a design patent is effectively a trademark for the look of the product rather than a logo.
