More important, do they realize that the war really was about the rights of the states vs. the federal government. We now know who won and it wasn't us.
I'll second that. Most of my career I have been an engineer, but I once spent 18 months running an SNA network. I had to talk secretaries through installing token ring / frame relay adapters or configuring a 3174. It was hell at first, but now I can talk my mother-in-law through just about any problem. She is still struggling with the concept of the Enter key.
Probably OT but wtf, rock climbing, a pleasure of mine(yea, big blue room and everything) 50# ago, rated roped climbs with intermediate protection at 5.0 to... Was susposed to stop at 5.9 but we kept climbing harder stuff. Couldn't transition to 6.0 because that was used for aided (as opposes to free) climbs. So everyoone just kept going. Last I checked 5.15 was as hard as had been free climbed. Next would be 5.16 of course.
Anyway; I liked Ubuntu, but the latest FreeBSD mounts and reads the NTFS partition. The utility is obvious.
Not that I think much of any of this, and I do not condone any of it... BUT - at least the companys have an interest in getting it right. Don't want to miss an opportunity ya' know. The government could care less when they screw it up; why not, doesnt cost them anything, maybe boosts their "success" rate.
Speaking for myself, it does. I won't buy anything untill I download and listen to an album half a dozen times. If I'm still listening that long then I will want the CD and buy it. Otherwise I won't like it and will probably forget I ever heard it. Sometimes I stumble on old downloads I forgot and will find that I now like something, which I will then go buy. A good system, 100% sampling, I buy what I really like. It does keep them from selling me crap, so I can see how they would oppose it.
Actually, copying equipment designs for your own internal use is common practice in business. You can't sell your copy to anyone, but giving it away may well be legal.
Just out of curiosity... Is it illegal/unethical to download a song that is released to radio? I have never heard of anyone being accused of taping music, so why should it matter that I acquired it another way?
I have a friend who is more creative: he decodes a file from usenet then searches the cache for it. If he finds it he opens it using IE, then saves it where he wants using the Save Image As function. Then he opens it using Firehand Ember (which he actually regestered). He used to just print them out but that got kinda expensive.
Nonsense. All you had to do was open the system and, using the erasor end of a pencil, give the platter hub a push and hit the power switch. If you had 2 drives you would briefly power off after starting the first drive because the 2nd was cooking. Then before the first drive spun down you would push off the second drive. You shouldn't be spreading FUD about these fine drives.
I remember that comment too. Just for the record; You have already paid for all of the commercial TV programming. It is financed by the marketing cost added on to everything we buy. Even if I don't watch any TV I am still paying for it. The advertisers are just hoping for special advantage.
Ok. But I call bullshit first!
WoW! Haven't heard That in a while! Not that it was ever approperate any place else.
And just how would you know that?

SH1T!
I wish all the moderator points I never used(lots) on you!
Why isn't this obvious?
Confusing the argument with facts; that's just not right.
Excuse my ignorance, I'm from the US. What is this "benefit of the general population" you speak of?
Yea right. Here, put on these manacles so I don't have to. Freedom in the 21st century.

Only in a police state.
Damn! Glad they can't afford that!
Thanks!
First rational explination I've ever heard.
I vote we junk IP as a failed experiment.
Yea, after conviction in an Open court of Law!
