Why don't they just have a pcmcia card or pc card, sorry forgot what they are called, but those are the things used in notebook computers, you know those credit card sized [insert generic device] cards?
That way, when you order, you can choice to get a modem for an additional $25 bucks, an ethernet card for an additiional $25 bucks or without anything. This way in [insert remainig life span of ethernet] years when ethernet is dead, you can take your favorite off the shelf pc networking card (wireless ethernet:) ?? ham radio, satelite?) and cram it in that slot.
Still an ethernet would be better by default then a 56K modem, or better yet add ethernet and stick a serial port on the back so you can terminal you way in or use it on an analog device to dialog out or even a direct connection to the host computer via serial null modem type of thing.
I want to calculate solar radiation flux! I want to simulate nuclear detonations!

Quake7 - The End is Here Real world destruction in real time. You cerbal cord will twitch at the realism and your well ajusted mind will melt in trying to determine what is real, and what is just the video game. (Requires Windows XII, Ultra Linux 7I or MacOS 9.1)
Information doesn't harm people, people harm people. So cheesy, but so true.
I got to the internet, learn how to build a pipe bomb, I then stuff this pipe bomb into a cows large intestent. Farm goes to milk cow, pipe bomb explodes killing the farmer, the cow and the milk.
Now who is responsiable for this? ME? or the web site with the information posted?
Let's use your example here: People post dire rumors about your company on the Internet. Stock tanks, management panics, you get fired. Information just harmed you.
Who is responiable for this? The people that posted the information or the information it'
s self? Who can you sue in a court of law for disfacement of character, the people that posted the information, or the information it's self?
That information did not harm you, the people posting it where out to harm you.
Information does have a soul or mind, therefor it can't be good or evil. It doesn't have thought, it can't set out to malicly hurt you. People have souls, minds and thoughts. People can set out to malicly hurt you. Information can not.
Information doesn't have INTENT (how I spelled that right) to do anything. IT intents to sit on it's ass without thought or reasons. Man has intent, and this intent can be good or bad. Man can use this non-reasoning object and use it for good or bad. Man uses information like a hammer, some will use it to build great building, something will use it to bash anothers skull in and yet others will use it for masterbational purposes...
Really? That sucks. What's their excuse for disallowing changes to the MBR?
Sarcasim ON!

I didn't understand exactly how this works. Say Spammer Bob sends 100 spams to isp.com. isp.com contact Bob and tells him to quite. Bob says he will quite sending spam to there isp. Bob the next morning "forgets" about the agreement and sends 100 new spams to isp.com. isp.com takes them to court. Now does isp.com get $500 total or does it get $500 X 100 spams?
Also say customer Tim and isp.com both ask Spammer Bob to stop the spamming. The next day Bob sends more same to customer Tim and both the isp and the customer wants to sue Bob. Do both Tim and isp.com get $500 or does just one or the other get the money?
Can a customer sue without the interactive of the isp.com? Say Tim gets a spam, tells them to stop sending it and Tim still gets spam, can Tim sue even though he is only a customer at the isp?
Also on a side note, if you tell telemarkets to "put me on your do-not-call-list" and they call again, you can make a quick $500 bucks pre each call they make to you after you tell them to stop. I heard this from NBC news, but not sure if it is %100 true. The thing I wonder about this, is how hard is it to collect the $500 bucks? Does it take 4 years of meeting in a out of state court every day, or is it some type of "quick processing" case? What proof are you required to have to be able to sue em?
Just wondering, the boggles mind.
