$30 seems really cheap, maybe they should change per bug report you send it. Like $5 for each bug report you send in and $50 for each bug you find. Because if you find a bug, the company has to pay their programmers to go in a fix it before release, and this costs alot of money. With this apple method, not only can companies pay for the bug fixes, but they can also make a profit on it!!

That are you are looking to far ahead into the vapor ware

Multiplayer is sweet. Use anything from a dial in modem to a full T3. User supplies the bandwidth.

Yeah, multiplayer is sweet. but guess what? even the "lowly" Dreamcast comes with a modem (optional Ethernet module for broadband soon) that'll let them play online -- they can even play against PCs in Quake III! Every console from here on out will have internet capability.

Yea let me get some of that modem. That fact is consoles that include modem only are going to suck big time. Quake III is really bad on 56K. Let me see you connect a deamcast to any cable modem provider, any DSL provider, any dedicated lines (T1, T3, ISDN) or even ethernet. Can a start a lan party with a bunch of dreamcasts? Can you play Quake3 on dreamcast off a unsat T1?

Right now the fastest thing I have seen in a console is a 56K dial up. Slow multiplayer games are nothing but painful to play.

And what about the other type of multiplayer? You know, the kind where you play against someone you actually know instead of some stranger across the country. Ever tried to play on a PC with your wife/brother/roomate/etc? What a pain! Consoles can make a party out of gaming.

Sure sitting around the sofa playing playstation games with your boys is fun for awhile, till that dam split screen gives everyone a headache.

Can I do a dual head on any console? Can I network in a LAN with any other consoles so everyone has there dedicated screen/machine?

Interface. PC has a lot more interfaces to offer from mouse, keyboard to joystick.

Welcome to the new millennium! Even the "lowly" Dreamcast has an optional keyboard and mouse. This is a non-issue.

How many games support this keyboard and mouse? Sitting on a sofa with a keyboard in your lap and a mouse on the coffee table doesn't sound like the most comfortable thing.

Patches: If you find a bug in a PC game, release a patch, no problem. Find a bug in a console game, huh huh your screwed.

Not anymore! Say hello to the hard drive-equipped X-box. As an aside, how many console games can you name that have bugs? The simplicity of the standard console platform makes bugs a much smaler issue on consoles.

Please post a link to ONE patch EVER released for any game on the console please.

Mods: Ever seen a Quake2 mod for the playstation?

Welcome to the console revolution! Internet connection + hard drive = mod capability. I think you've been locked in your room alone with your PC for too long.

Please post ONE Quake2 mode avaiable for ANY console platform.

Eye Candy: What can a TV do 320X240 res? Most PC games I play are at 1024X960.

Whew! Took us a while to get to a valid point. Yes, you are correct; TVs are only capable of 640x480 -- sub-par by today's PC standards. But when consoles start supporting HDTV, watch out!

Sure and what are these HDTV running at? I seen one that was 21" going for a little over $6,500. I could get a 25" monitor for cheaper than that.

Sound: TV speakers aren't the greatest. PC gamers supply there own speakers from that little beep speaker in the case to a $5000 home stero system.

What? How can you even bring this up with the plethora of excellent home theatre set-ups available? Would you rather watch the Matrix on a nice home theatre setup or your PC? That's what I thought.

What ever you put your game console on your PC can go on to, and oh yea you don't have to strain your eyes at the crappy blurry TV screen.

Play Diablo on the PC then try playing it on the Playstation, you will be disapointed.

I agree. Unfortunately, I think this statement shows that you're thinking about the history of consoles and not what's just around the corner.

What corner? It is all marketing hype and vaporware. Everyone has been talking about how the game console is going to kick the PC ass (since PRE-dreamcast) and I have YET to see ANYTHING worth a dam. Dreamcast blows chuncks so bad and everyone is saying oh did we say dreamcast we meant X-box.

Show me SOMETHING, ANYTHING that can even keep in PAR with a PC. I have seen nothing but hype.

PC are moving faster than console, and even if the X-box released today, the PC would blow it away in 3 months time. X-box is non-upgrade, 6 months past and the PC is a bad ass mofo, the X-box is starting to smell funny. 9 months past and the PC is getting even fast and the NEW PC GAME KILLER is starting to be hyped and marketed up.

PC can move faster than any console and are more flexiable. the console HAS NEVER been ahead of the PC and it will never be.

Please rent or buy these games and judge for yourself:

    PC Playstation
    Quake3 Quake2
    Diablo 2 Diablo

How's that multiplayer working for you? How is that interface working for you? How is those graphic doing? How is that huge level depth doing for you?

By the time the X-box or any other console gets a game out that is as good as a PC version, it will be 3 months and in 3 months there will be a PC game that can kick it's ass.

console is so slow at everything, hope it dies soon.

I really only see 2 advantages the console market has:

What are the departments inside of MS saying "We can't move to Windows 2000, there is NO reason" "Upgrading to Windows 2000 would be such a pain in the ass"

So the marketers are giving you one thing and the internal tech staff is saying another. Lies. Someone is lying. They need to sync up and what the "truth" is, or atleast what they will claim as the truth.
