    I have a customer with registered avast on all PCs. It comes with bundled "software updater" that deals internally with SOME software (eg. adobe flash or some upgrades of firefox) without running the official installer. Comes quite easy to cope with, so perhaps parents could do some updates.
    Otherwise, there is remote admin module as well.

    how about a right to decide to cease keeping person in hospital + cease paying?
    Would not bring substancial difference to the chances of recovery. Would bring peace of mind for the person in terminal state - sometimes.

    Soviets were very efficient. On paper that is.
    Basic worker did x units, reported to his boss doing 1.2 x units. His boss reported to supervisor doing 2 x units. Supervisor reported to his supervisor doing 5 units. He reported to whoever run the state statistics that 8 x has been produced.

    I know caller ID is set by the originating call switch. As written above, I had to ask my operator to give me info on which operator runs the call switch that originated the call.

    Sure, using single outcoming number for entire call center is of course legit. But cases of messing up with country or regional code in called ID, or spoofing numbers of other parties is not legal/gray area in some countries and could be noticed to the regulator body.

    ranges are easily blockable. My voip operator would let me define my own filters on the operator side (so don't have to do it on my local side(s)).
    I could block entire areas (say +XXYYY*), or just subsets of numbers (say +XXYYYZZZZZ*).

    no, temporarily forward your number to the FTC. That should make them do something about US operators allowing spoofed CLID.

    On my domestic (non-US) market, I remember only one incident of spooffed CLID. I asked my operator to check from which operator the call originated. I sent them polite email asking to consider preventing such incidents, otherwise the telco regulator will be informed. Did not occure again (so far).

    They have long tradition of lies.

    It's now 70 years since Sikorski died in "accident"; yet many believe he was killed by Soviets with British approval. (Poland as an ally was "an obstacle" to cooperate with Soviets, as Soviets done mass killings two years earlier).

    Somehow British archives on the subject are still classified. Not a sign of clear conscience on their side.

    putting it on completely different subject: if a filter stops 99% of pollutant, you get 10x pollutant unfiltered when compared to the filter with 99.9% efficiency and 100x than with filter of 99.99% efficiency.

    because "This chicken tastes like shit!" password is more or less a "5-character password", but characters are selected not from ~26 but from say 50000.

    My guess is that after the referred xkcd strip brut force algoritms also put more emphasis to natural language sentences, etc.

    right in the 2010 there was a site called drugitupolew.pl (2nd Tupolev - as Polish goverment had two TUpolev airplanes) which was a voting for top 96 unpopular politicians and public figures.
