    When they get to court they would either have to admit the existence of the backdoor or perjure themselves. If they are already lying under oath why would they bother looking for real evidence to lie about?

    Oh I know there are plenty of situations where a defense isn't able to stop a runaway prosecutor, I only took issue with the defense team hasn't started playing yet.

    If your defense team only steps in once you are charged you are already behind. One of the benefits of a good defense team is heading off ridiculous charges like this before you are indicted.

    The equivalent loss in the US would have only led to the bad press, if that. What laws we do have, regarding electronic privacy, rarely ever result in prosecutions or fines of any size.

    Maybe they could have come up with the internet, rockets, and various medical procedures, but they didn't. That slow clunky inefficient government got it done first. You can argue hypotheticals all you want, but private industry didn't invent these things. They had time. They had money.

    It could very well hurt. Michael Moore is a politically polarizing figure. The last thing Wikileaks needs is a new reason for half of the US to hate them.

    It really doesn't excuse them at all. If they had wired up even the largest, wealthiest, high density cities you might have a point. Just wiring up New York, Chicago, and LA with good internet service would bring the numbers up noticeably nationally and they wouldn't have to worry about low densities.

    They seized about 80 domains, mostly related to counterfeit goods, with a few torrent related sites thrown in for good measure. The seizure was handled by ICE.

    What definition of journalist are you using that would cover other journalists, but not Wikileaks? They gather information, editorialize in their summaries, and disseminate that information.

    What good does it do to say civilians were killed, but not who killed them? If they're at additional risk because they wrongly killed people I have a hard time feeling all that sorry for them.

    No, they don't want to own us like a slave. You had to keep your slaves fed to ensure they continued to work. They would rather avoid that cost.
