  2. Legacy on Windows Patch Leaves Many XP Users With Blue Screens · · Score: 0

Wait a minute, I remember those from back in the day! Hah, not fun.

It still surprises me why people still use XP - a 9 year old system. Come on, people. Upgrade. To Ubuntu. :P

I have XP still (I'm forced by itunes) - but I'll probably chuck it out now, for I have no XP install disk and I don't want to update and have it dead, but I also don't want to not update and have it cracked. And I suggest all in my position do the same. Bye bye XP. I won't miss you.

    You couldn't be more wrong.

    From W3Schools, Dec 09:
    IE8: 13.5%, IE7: 12.8%, IE6:10.9%, Firefox: 46.4%, Chrome: 9.8%

As you can see, Firefox is far higher. And this has been confirmed by multiple sources.

So the title should be: Firefox Is Top Browser And Has Been For A Long Time, Chrome Overtakes Safari

  6. Content on UK's Freeview HD To Go DRM · · Score: 0

If you want people to watch your stuff... make it available to EVERYONE. Let them do what they wish, else it will never get "out there". In the case where it is "out there" it's an awful lot kinder to consumers, especially the honest ones who want to record your programmes. My, my opinion of the BBC is going downhill.

Ogg is the only video standard we need. It's nice, it works and it's open. We might as well throw everything else out. Unless we come out with a better quality, smaller open codec. In which case we should use that. And scrap ogg. Come on, the media moves fast!

  11. Many email addresses fail on Does a Lame E-Mail Address Really Matter? · · Score: 0

If you have an MSN email address for example (e.g. @msn.com.@hotmail.com), some email might fail, or not get sent to you, because of something to do with MX servers and the fact that Hotmail throws away suspicious stuff, really paranoid-y, instead of throwing it in your spam box. Also a lot of companies think "This person isn't paying for email. Let's block Hotmail emails" - which I have seen a couple of times.

Why not have a catch-all email on your domain? It's rather handy as you can sign up to things like myname_thecompany@mydomain.com - and then if the company sells it off, you'll know who did it and you can get people fired. I have heard of a guy that got 3 people fired for that. Perhaps it was on /. .

  12. Force? on The End Of Gravity As a Fundamental Force · · Score: 0

Since when was gravity a fundamental force? It's only the weak warping of spacetime, surely? There's no force involved. Matter warps spacetime. Spacetime bends matter. Somewhat.

  13. Indeed on Prions Evolve Despite Having No DNA · · Score: 0

All evolution is is random mutations, and the ones best suiting to survival ... surviving. Or in this case, continuing to exist. Dust particles in space can be said to evolve, the ones closest together might one day form a star. There's nothing new here, if weird organic matter happens to be more resistant to anything trying to destroy it, then we might define it as evolving.
