    Just don't call it a Web OS because it's not an OS, it's just a desktop or window manager. Xenon is a fine (in-development) example of this which explains the concepts.

    The cloud does not interact with the computer, it needs a layer such as the browser, networking stack, and kernel. So, "web desktop" would seem to be correct.

    Hey hey, only some of it is a joke. SMTP is, hardware encryption isn't. WEP and WPA is, private-public key pairs aren't. See? I'm reasonable.

    Security is a complete joke. Especially software security. You can get into any computer with access. Unless you encrypt emails and all that nonsense with huge private public key pairs, it's no good. It's so easy to send an email from anyone to anyone else. SMTP is a complete joke.

    That may apply in silly software selling but most people understand if I say "I have a PC". Yes, it's a big box with an unspecified system on it. It's silly nowadays to assume a system at all. There are so many of the damn things. See "Having the right terminology" for details.
