I assume it means that you can't freely return to the United States. I'm sure the Canadians would have no hesitation in deporting any Americans attempting to emmigrate to Canada via this loophole.
I suspect this is spindoctoring in action - the real issue is preventing US citizens from leaving the country without their passport in the first place.
In the case of Mythbusters (shown on SBS), for some reason they've actually replaced the commentary with an Australian dub.
The comments are identical to the US version, which I had no trouble understanding. What's with that?
The Epia SP is okay, but it isn't exactly a big step up from its precedessors. The Epia DP is a far more interesting beast - dual processors extends the potential uses of these boards much further than a clock speed or chipset upgrade.
I'll also believe them when I see them: despite much fanfare, the Nano-ITX boards are still largely vapourware.
These days, I christen new machines by performing a stage1 Gentoo installation. While not as pretty as Fractint, there's nothing like some serious code compilation to appreciate the performance of your machine (but life's too short to wait for OpenOffice.org to compile.)
It's possible that boards are asexual and daughterboards "bud" off from motherboards, or there's a queenboard and a few drones hoping for a chance to father the next generation of boards.
"Common sense" seems to be an endangered species. Ever since the litigation pandemic, the world seems to be inhabited by a bunch of dumbasses who believe they can sue shoe manufacturers for not including instructions and a safety warning with lace-up shoes.
Not so. We have a number of NEC LCD monitors at work that show signs of "burn in", though perhaps "pixel fatigue" or another term is a more accurate description.
The monitors, it displays a "No signal" message box when the screen saver kicks in (though only on some computers.) In the operations area where the monitors are on 24-7, there is a noticable shadow of the box "burnt" into the picture - just like the old CRT burn-in problem. That sucks.
"This is a static image of Mount St. Helens, taken from the Johnston Ridge Observatory." (my emphasis.)
Very funny - now turn the lights back on so we can see the volcano...
Apart from the infrared glow from the lava flows last year, I've only even seen static from the camera in my timezone.
I prefer the White Island Crater VolcanoCam - despite predictions of an acidic death, Dino lives!
To prevent contamination (moisture, hydrocarbons etc.) that may affect its mass. Even so, the Kilogram Prototype has lost some mass (50 micrograms as of 2003) for reasons unknown.
There is an international effort to come up with a new standard extremely precise silicon spheres - the cool thing about them is it is apparently impossible to tell if it is stationary or spinning unless you have a reference point on the surface (e.g. a speck of dust.)
I rememeber reading once that IE loads into memory at boot.... This makes for superb integration with the UI for all system tasks, it also results in blazing fast speed as a browser.
Your RAM capacity may vary. On memory challenged machines, this adds to the eternal hell of page swapping. It's bloat, pure and simple - keep it lean, keep it clean.
Acrylic may be clear, but it's also brittle - I'd rather protect a "server" in an aluminium case. (Perhaps that's where SAIC went wrong - servers should be locked away in 19" racks.)
I'm old enough to just remember when it was called 'Towards 2000' and on the ABC
:-(
Ditto, but I don't have the low Slashdot ID to prove it.

... people should use their common sense.

Fair enough, but are sniveling, grizzling, yammering and yawping permitted?

The question is, will it be Apple or McDonalds that sues over the choice of name?

Penguins are found only in the Southern Hemisphere.
Exactly! You don't see penguin salesmen downunder because there's no demand for them - it'd be taking coal to Newcastle.
Video camera + wireless Internet connection + kids? Is Microsoft asleep at the wheel, or do they see a large market for voyeurs?
You can't talk about the second rule - it's already slashdotted?
Why do surgeons need an invisibility cloak? To hide from malpractice lawsuits?

A rough translation is: "All your rights are belong to us."
Can it pop coffee? That would be cool - undiluted caffeine.
Friction. (Shouldn't it be "Darl", not "Darryl"?)

Don't scroll - simply type "IDN" in the Filter box, and it's the only option displayed.

Isn't root Australian slang for "have sex"?
Yes, which puts a whole new spin on the "got root?" t-shirts.
