This service is just data only, you still need a pair from the phone company you just don't have a dialtone on the line. . .

They have almost got it right. I will shell out up to $49.95 a month when I can have access to just about every song ever released by a major record label and some of the independants.

    Here's what I want.

    1. On Demand Access - meaning I can login from anywhere and stream the music to my PC or internet connected device.

    2. Download / Burning Rights - I want to be able to create cds that I can take with me and play in the car.

It's that simple, hell work a deal out with ISP's and let them offer it as a value added service that I can tac on to my account.

Besides look at Apple... They're Itunes service has caught on with the Non-Computer-Nerd as well because Apple has been able to market it as the Cool / Easy to use music service.

That's what is so cool about the DSL world, everything happens on that DSLAM, so the telco has control over your speeds.

Let's say you upgrade to a faster speed... Well remotely push an update to the port card you tie into that's in the DSLAM, then push an update to the modem and bam... You speed is upgraded.

The coolest thing to do is queue up a large download on the users PC, then push the updates to the modem and the DSLAM and you can actually see the speed increase. :-)

Then you can even remotely tweak the line that the DSL is running on... Not getting full speed that you are rated at? No problem just bump the voltage on the line a little bit and normally the problems is fixed. :-)

What's the point exactly? What benefit is gained? If a company wants to sell alcohol in the state it has to meet their requirements, which I promise you are already in place. What you don't realize is your ISP's upstream repeatedly ignored requests to terminate the spammers account. SPEWS doesn't immediately ban the whole service provider. Obviously your upstream profitted from the spammer, and they continued to profit even after they were alerted a number of times that they were hosting a spam outfit. Your upstream choose to ignore the complaints and continue to host the spammer and take their dirty money.

When the spam stops, and that means all spam, the blocks start to come off.

It's very apparent you have never had to deal with spam and angry users at the ISP level, it's a whole different ball game, don't advocate DDos of the tools that we need to protect our users. You shouldn't advocate DDos for anything, not even spammers.

If you go near the end of the season, which if you are going in September it gets affordable because the weather is cold in that area around that time of the year.

Usually they are only open on the weekends in September so plan accordingly. Hotels get cheaper the further you stay away from cedar point, and September gets into the off months so rates are affordable. I know there are some camp grouds around too if you are into that.

Also if you are in neighboring cities before going to Cedar Point, keep your eyes peeled for coupons, you can usually save a couple of bucks by buying a can of Pepsi with a coupon printed on it...

    Not to nit pick,but...

Most big time spammers go right around the "TOS" by becoming an ISP themselves. All you have to do is buy a block of IP's from someone who has them up for sale. Believe me there are plenty of people who will sell you a /20 for a $4000 to $10,000, because they are going out of business.

Next all you need to do is find a bandwidth provider and you're in business. Most bandwidth providers don't care what you do with your bandwidth as long as it's not illegal. And there isn't a lot of solid case law that spam is illegal. (I know we're all hoping for legislation to come through, but not yet...)

And there you go, no "Terms of Service" to break.

I hate spammers as much as the rest of you, but I really hate zeolots who have no idea how the business even works. The more you know about spammers the easier it will be to combat them.

Maybe I'm just jaded because most of my day is spent blocking this low-lifes.
