I would imagine it is part of the standard boiler to cover their ass in court. They guarantee that the Wii will work with official software with the Nintendo seal of quality and all that. Once you use stuff that they did not make or approve, you are on your own. If you break something, it is your own fault.
The Creative player I owned had a proprietary AV-Out, no replacable battery, no flash reader, the USB port was proprietary, and the DC plug may have been relatively non-proprietary but I never saw a universal adapter with the proper voltage or the exactly proper sized plug.
In recent years they have stopped with the free stuff. All I got with my latest one was head phones and a USB charger. Wall charger and AV cables cost extra.
Nukes? Nukes don't work against you own revolting populous. You can nuke the Japs since there is the Pacific ocean to stop the fallout from reaching you (and even then, some does). Good luck nuking your neighbors and not getting cancer. It is (literally) suicide to nuke your own homeland.
As for a pain ray, who said that everyone at Raytheon agrees with you...
I am not arguing that that is the only right it grants. I am arguing that the overthrow of an unpopular government is one of them. Quoting another Justice, Joseph Story, from Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States Book 3, Chapter 44, Sec. 1890:
"The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered, as the palladium of the liberties of a republic; since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers; and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them."
Obama will be the winner since McCain will be forced to drop out to save face. It happens in every election. When the exit polls call an election unwinalbe, the loser drops out.
Yep, if I am not mistaken, the right to bear arms is in the Bill of Rights so that the government will not be able to silence the will of the people and so that if the government gets screwy, we can have another revolution.
Actually, try reading the article yourself instead of skimming it.
From the article: "Gamer.nl contradicted the statements, claiming the game was provided to them directly by Atari. What's more, they claim that Atari says they only let 'high scoring' reviews release before embargo." "One of the sites in question claims their copy was actually purchased at retail." "it seems as if Atari is only interested in suing those who portray their games in a bad light."
Sadly it will be a lawyer fight: lots of name calling and legal terms but no real violence. I would prefer if they settled it with fists and/or knives.
Yes, we count years starting at one but our numbering system starts at 0. In all numbering systems I know of, if there is X symbols to be used for numbers, X-1 is the largest number that can be represented as a single character (and we will ignore Roman Numerals since they are outdated and stupid).
I don't see that many people with Illidan's glaives. I suspect that this will also be an item that drops like 2.5% of the time or whatever on the final boss of one of the hardest raids in the game.
The MMO focuses on three main groups: The rocks are a cave age civilization who specialize in stone based weapons. The paper is a mystical cult who attacks by writing spells on sheets of paper, folding them into paper airplanes, and throwing them at the opponent. The shotguns are a radical gang of gun wielding killers.
The game has serious balance issues due to the rocks having no ranged attacks what so ever, the paper taking about 5 minutes to do any of their attacks (and the attacks all being ruined by a stiff breeze), and the shotguns ability to one shot anyone with a head shot from a mile away.
or because my xbox 360 won't load my rockband one disc anymore or DREs mid song, which is weird because it loads every single other game in my collection just fine:_(
See, that is a clear sign from the gaming gods that you should buy RB2 and buy the songs. No, it clearly isn't an elaborate trap set up by the developers to steal more of your cash...
People who would care about these things already use Firefox/Opera/whatever. Everyone else does not care. It is like mocking the jocks because while all they do is run around and bang chicks, you gain valuable programming experience working on code no one will give a rats ass about.
Because many people are too fat or lazy to walk all the way over to the XBox and change CDs and then wait for it to load and then sign in all the players.
It is for convenience. If you have a party of people who like both songs they know how to play and people who want to see the new, it may make sense to suck it up and pay the $5 (besides, how much did you already pay for both the games and all the instruments? More than $400?)
I actually read the article and it seems to me that the 'technical artists' are just artists put in the engineering department to roughly understand what is going on (according to the article "Most technical artists, by today's standards, come from an artistic background and favor the use of dynamic scripting languages such as MaxScript or Mel.") and act as a mediator between the artists and coders. If that is what they do, it seems inefficient to have them in that capacity and looks to a patch to cover up a bad management strategy.
The only folks who have nothing to fear from outsourcing for the immediate future are the rack and cable monkeys, but even they can be gotten rid of by simply moving your whole data center to India. Of course, in order to provide 24/7 support, they'd then have to have support folks in the US to do stuff during the Indian "night".:)
They can pay someone to cover the night shift. Labor is cheep enough there that they can have 3 squads of admins.
Blizzard best hope that WotLK is damn near perfect and has some great pvp, if not, they are gonna loose quite a bit of clientele.
What people seem to overlook about WoW is that it runs on crap hardware and OSX. That means that people like me, who are too damn cheep to but computers more often than twice a decade or those who like Mac are stuck in WoW since many MMOs overlook us.
Saying those machines are Vista capable is like saying that any machine that can run DOS is Windows ME compatible.
To me, saying that a machine is compatible with an OS means that it can run a full install of an OS reasonably well, not barely run a minimalistic version (maybe).

I imagine that everyone is posting in this thread just to be achievement whores and get the April Fools achievement... including me
It was a Zen Vision: M

And how is that different from what you are doing right now (or rather at 09:47AM)?
That is a good thing. Get off /. and do some real work.
And how do you decide what a page of code is? Is this worth less:
While this is worth more:

Zth? Shouldn't it be BAth? If you take A to be a null value (essential for modern math), Z is 25 in decimal. 26 base 10 is the radix!
Yeah, until everyone has a frostmourne
