    If patent- and copy rights would just end with the originator of the work - if s/he dies, all becomes public domain.

    It sure would drive innovation and what are heirs/patent-right owners actually contributing? They just rub their hands - how lucky I am to have this ancestor or made the investment.

    But not much longer - that's what peak oil means. And - world's industry is hooked on oil full blast with no replacement in sight - same for He.
    Irreplaceable - alternatives need to be found and implemented but...

    It looks to me you are not familiar with the metaphor of someone sticking the head in the sand.

    Please look up the background in answers.com.
    What it means that in imminent danger somebody does not address the issue, looks away and perishes.

    This applies with peak oil and other environmental issues.

    The efforts necessary cannot be undertaken in the current prevailing socio-economic control structure which fails right now.

    Suggest you take a look at http://www.youtube.com/user/TZMOfficialChannel which shows the issues and tries giving an alternative.

    What worldwide cooperation needs to happen to make this effort happen?
    Have a look - in US "democracy" - failing
    Totalitarian systems - dictatorships, monarchies - failing, right now people protesting to change to democracies.

    Seems like much more suffering (jobs, housing, food, environment, violence..) needs to happen that people become willing to drop the current nonsense.

    Where should the BES be? Inside foreign country or homeland US? In any case BES connects to Blackberry Infrastructure (BB Router) to user's devices (Wireless phone network). If you use BB in foreign country in connections with a BES, you will go through BB Infrastructure which seems to be open to governments in some foreign countries. IMO using a Home-BES Express defeats the purpose. Cost to use BB infrastructure is unknown to me but surely exists on top of Windows Server licensing issue.

    In theory, I would think that everything could be easily port to Linux - not sure what is all in use - Apache Tomcat based-something, SQL database & what have you. Do they dare to do it? The mail part - Novell-Groupwise, Lotus should be running on Lx anyway... Big money politics and some phonecalls from big brother may be in play - maybe some support channels as well or just resources - they probably have their hands full with competing - or trying to - current forces. . You don't need a BES for VPN I would think - posted about unlocked Blackberry using WIFI earlier - if it will go through customs... Could use https or ssh too - haven't gotten a free ssh client to work yet..

    and.... you'll need a SQL server too - all that BES environment is Microsoft server based. Not sure how much that is. Once you have the server, you'll need access to mobile network for your device(s) from BES - assume that's not free either. Good luck!

    Throwing out your existing tires for fuel economy? How much oil is in those tires anyway?

    Add 2 PSI to regular tire pressure and your roll resistance goes down. Another great factor is driving style and type of car.

    Loosing sales to somebody who has no money (extremely put)? Would everyone downloading be able to pay and is just refusing to do so? Highly doubtful. Maybe sharing of things a basic human trait and all the business money making schemes run against it?

    Citibank is a goner for me - despite their virtual number thingie which is great.

    They changed their game plan - either take it or loose your account.
    I had cash reward cards and they dropped the % of rewards and other rules to my disadvantage.
    You will get a new card, your current card will no longer be valid was one of their writings, if you don't use your new card, your accounts will be closed...

    So - what happened is that the new cards were issued, accounts transferred but cards were in the mail and could not get activated.
    Effect was virtual number generation failed, I am on an internet purchase, PayPal would take up to 3 days to verify a new CC - could not complete transaction.

    Citi customer service (bad connection, probably far away...) hung up 3 x until I was able to find out why it does no longer work.

    It's a money making scheme - if you look at the "fees" one has to shell out for certificates - has absolutely nothing to do with effort necessary to provide a certificate.

    Part of the great pyramid where all the money is rising upwards to a small top, partially fueled by the - is it the dripping down - or trickling down - fantasy.

    Verisign must have severely lobbied (greased) the browser vendors...

    Certs should be issued by the government, like passports - for a reasonable fee. Probably a dud in US where free market rules with great results as one more and more can see.

    To me, the underlying cause is that some disconnected individuals in a power hierarchy are taking irresponsible risks playing Russian Roulette with our environment.

    Details on this and against it can be easily researched. If one takes a more distant perspective, it may become more clear - or not - who cares at the moment?

    Most of it is automated. They are running risk rules on transactions and if one hits a score, the account is frozen - they call it "limited".

    Can be anything - they sure won't publish their algorithms.

    c - Politicians are stupid (CO no-phone-use-in cars was watered down to no-messaging-while-driving)
