So what? Since there is no record now, a single person downloading it in the "offical" period sets the record. Isn't it more important for people to use the browser?
or it could be the cyclists riding 3 abreast on the road at 1/2 the speed of traffic when there's a perfectly good bike path 20 feet away. Or when the cyclist runs a redlight/stop sign. Or just when cyclists generally think they should own the road.
I have no problem with cyclists who follow the same laws as autos when on the road and keep themselves and others out of harms way by riding safely. Unfortunately, just like with car drivers there are a bunch of asshole cyclists too.
Do people seriously think that watching HD video over the web is going to take off? If I wanted to watch HD content which is more likely, I sit down in front of my computer and go to huluhd.com or I turn on the television?
Take a look at your power or water bill sometime. They both charge graduated rates based on over usage.
Besides it's like your sibling comment points out 250GB is ~800Kbit/sec for 31 days.... that's 8+ divx movies^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H "linux iso's" per day every day for a month.
I pull into my local filling station, plug in the hose, flip a switch and turn a handle. When it stops I flip the switch turn the handle back the other way, disconnect the hose and walk inside and hand over my ~$4.00.
[sarcasm] Sure is a rough learning curve that no person who has ever been to a gas station could ever figure out. [/sarcasm]
I already have a sensible commuter car. It's a 1995 Ford Ranger that gets 16-17 "MPG"... did I forget to mention that it runs on Compressed Natural Gas that I fill up for $0.638 per gas gallon equivalent?
Go ahead and pay for dirty coal power from your local power company, I'll continue driving my much greener truck for less money thank you very much.
That same statement can be directed at the 2010 games in Vancouver. The IOC has told women that they can't ski jump because their sport doesn't have enough competitors or countries involved, but they managed to add skier cross which has less countries and less competitors and less history but at least it will look good on tv.
Just to add insult to injury the hill record for the Olympic ski jump in Vancouver is held by a US Woman ski jumper.
If you just think of it as twice every 4 years it's exactly the same as it was up until they separated the winter and summer games into different years.
Personally I've always felt that GWB is a better speaker when he's not reading a prepared speech. I'm actually surprised that they keep writing speeches for him, if I were his communications director I would have moved him from prepared speeches to just giving him talking points.
AOL bought Time Warner. The company name became AOL-Time Warner. Eventually the AOL portion was dropped but it doesn't change the fact that AOL bought Time Warner, not the other way around.
If your school district were properly funded through your tax dollars they wouldn't need to take Microsoft's money to fill out their budget needs. Until people figure out that they should be voting for every single school bonding issue, schools need to come up with funds somewhere. They might as well take Microsoft's money and provide education in the software the students will need to know when they get out of school.
I don't know about you but I'm pretty sure my energy use peaks in the evening.... you know when it's dark and I have to turn on lights... and I'm home... and I'm heating my home... and doing laundry or washing dishes...
The real strength of Wikipedia shines through once again. "Editors" would rather see articles deleted than created. That is unless they're about Pokemon, in which case, create away.
Wikipedia is broken as a useful encyclopedia until it becomes easier to create articles than it is to delete them, but hey, at least we can find out everything there is to "know" about every obscure Pokemon.
...and you end up with a mad scramble as people in the right lane... FYI this doesn't happen in Minnesota so much... people are deathly afraid of the right hand lane. It's like you'll get the plague if you drive in it too long. It's the weirdest thing.
Knowing the phone companies, they're getting a cut on both ends.

Guess what, books don't have backlights either. Unless you've actually seen the e-ink technology it's hard to understand but a backlight would suck on a device like this. Stop in a Borders bookstore sometime, I've seen the Sony e-reader on display at a few of them and it will show you that it doesn't make sense to add a backlight to the product.
Battery life with a backlight is a whole different issue.
That being said, as much as it pains me to say I'd rather by the Sony e-reader than the Kindle. Somehow it just seems less restrictive.... who would have thought Sony would get it more right than Amazon.com?
does the torrent client still suck?

I've had issues with Miro taking DAYS to download torrents that take a matter of hours with azureus. The built in client has some serious issues.
you must have a different clock than the rest of us... 10am PST is still an hour away for me...

and if the wife/girlfriend/kids/dog wants to watch TV when he's away how are they to do so when his cell phone isn't sitting there?

I would think that many people who would buy an electric car might also install solar panels to charge it.
Yes TCO might still be up but it's worth factoring into the calculation.
"Without NBC and their money, the Olympics is nothing."
There fixed that for you

because the only thing they need to spend money on is software licenses?
Wouldn't want kids to have any training on the software they're going to be using in the real world now would we?
