I've been very, very pleased with the new 7.5 release. Plus, the entire install is only 3.4MB! Compare that with 12MB and 6.2MB for Mozilla and Firefox respectively. It might run faster on your older Win95 machines.
Oh, and K-Meleon might work for you too. It's Gecko, so you might run into similar problems as Moz or Firefox on your system, I'm not sure.
I see 2 distinct product areas that stand alone, but also *could* have some overlap (probably more-so in the future). They are: "Multi-media Device," and "Personal Digital Assistant." The problem, IMO, is that they are marring the wrong features from each group. For example; should I have to fork over $100+ more, and suffer a thicker form-factor for a device who's primary function is to serve as a PDA, just for a video camera? How can the average customer even use a video camera with them 24/7? Sure, there's the occasional funny video capture, or the occasional "car accident evidence," or maybe you even need this for your job... but those are rare or specialized occasions.
An example of a good addition to the PDA set, IMO, is MP3 playback as this is something most people could use while bussing/biking/walking to work. It's a convenient feature that cuts down on carrying another device, it's a simple enough task suited for a PDA-type OS, plus it shouldn't increase the form-factor if they do it right.
Hopefully a little more R&D will help Sony and others choose what features to put together, and what to keep to separate dedicated devices.

Where the other "buggy/bad" browsers just suck in an indirect annoying way like some pest shooting spit-wads at you during class... NN4 is the bully that actively seeks you out to ruin your day and steal your lunch money. NN4's bugs are so bad they can't be compared to other browsers. Two things make NN4 suck more than the other browsers: 1)The quantity of rendering bugs and 2) The *SEVERITY* of the rendering bugs.
I would guess I spent about 50% of my GUI development time "fixing" things to work in NN4 for a recent client. This is for a browser that has about 1% of market usage. This ratio is too skewed to justify. Here me out people: I'm not a "Standards Nazi." I believe in making a site look the same in all browsers even if you have to "tweak" things... but come on. A 50-to-1 ratio is ridiculous.
Ok, enough ranting. Seriously, NN4 really and truly is worse than all the other browsers combined and only deserves minimal fixing.

Here's a rule that I use for Imail (a windows mail server) to take all msg's with executable attachments and put them in a folder called "possibleViruses".

I mean, M$ can't get you for owning a blank hard drive can they? Sure you couldn't do it to all the computers... people actually need their data (duh). But you could come in with a linux file server, back all that crap up, then blow out all the no-license windows boxes. This would at least buy the schools some time and I'm sure it would cost less than half a million (which is what M$ is looking for). It'd be a pain in the ass, but possibly save some money.

I keep reading "display the Product's user interface" in all these EULAs. So where do screen shots fall? A screen shot is definitely "displaying the Product's user interface." Do I need a XP license to read an XP review on a web page if it includes a screen shot?
We can not excuse these practices, but a bright side is this: Is this going to stop ANYONE from using VNC anyway? I'm sure as hell not stopping. 'Course, I'll stick with Win2k anyway.

I made something similiar for me and my friends called the CD Want List. It's an ASP (yeah, yeah, M$ sucks) app that helps me remember what CDs I want. The cool thing is that you can make an AvantGo channel of it and have a shopping list right in your Palm or Handspring. Makes shopping for friends super easy, especially since we always get each other CDs anyway.
Another great student run station, KWVA in Eugene, Oregon. Quote from their website: "Tired of being torn from blissful slumber every morning by "Who Let the Dogs Out"?"

Is slashdot.org really a nonprofit? Is penis.net in the network field? TLDs,
as it stands right now, are completely useless. They have no meaning, other
than to serve as a top node for the DNS system. Even if ICANN was to come out
with a new TLD, it should be.parody . That way, the corporations can still
sue everyone with a com/net/whatever for "false representation of their
trademark"... but it's hard to argue that a visitor was mislead if the
site is hosted at a.parody . "Gees, I thought Pepsi(R)(TM)(SM)(C)(P) was
really injecting thought control drugs in to their drinks, it says so at pepsico.parody"
Of course, TLDs mean nothing unless the are enforced (and who the hell is going tackle that giant task (and where does the $$ come to fund that)), so nix that idea.

The irony is that the only way he would know of those tragedies (tanks in street, etc.) is by having the resources to study history.
