Yes, but all but your final point pertains to actual expansion slot upgradability. Other than graphics cards, what expansion cards to people generally buy these days?
How hard would it be to install this on a Pro? I hear that EFI makes this impossible. But if that's the case, why buy a desktop machine that's upgradable if you can't upgrade it?
Yep, EDGE works fine with the Treo 650 I currently have. I'm using a grandfathered MediaWorks plan, which is unlimited data plus 1500 SMS per month for $15/month.
Huh? I already have an unlimited data plan with Cingular. All I'd want to do is move my SIM card from my Treo to an iPhone, if I bought one. Shouldn't data just work then?
I'm currently a Cingular customer, since 2004. So, I'm not under a contract, and I don't want to enter another in order to I buy a non-subsidized phone at full price. So, if I were to buy an iPhone, I would be fine with keeping my Cingular service, but I would use the activation hack. So, according to Apple, I'd be an unlocker as well?
One problem I had was where I would accidentally double-click a file too slowly, which causes you to rename a file. Not paying attention, I would be typing, then realized that I was accidentally renaming a file. I hit Escape to cancel, but it proceeded to rename the file to what I had typed thus far. It should have reverted the file to the original name.
This is why I never understood how the Fed lowering interest rate ever helps anything when it comes to real estate. I almost bought a house in 2000, when rates were higher. Then rates lowered, and people realized they could buy a house for cheaper, which lead to an increased demand for houses, which drove up the price of said houses. In the end, people are paying more per month on a house now than they would have if they bought it in 2000. So, why do people go gaga over a lower rate in the first place?

Well, in case you didn't notice, Brooklyn is a part of Long Island. So yes, there should be some way to handle people trying to get from Brooklyn to New Jersey, as public transportation is deficient for that kind of travel. The Manhattan Bridge does have a stub ramp for the unbuilt Lower Manhattan Expressway, in case you didn't know. But now people have to rely on clogging up Canal Street.
And if there's so relatively few people doing it, I guess there should be no big deal granting that exemption, no?

I would hope that they are taking into account that to get from Long Island to New Jersey you pretty much have to travel through midtown/downtown Manhattan to do so (otherwise the only other options are the GWB and Verrazano Bridge, which are way too far out of the way). Unfortunately the highways that were supposed to connect the Manhattan Bridge to the Holland Tunnel, and the Queens-Midtown Tunnel to the Lincoln Tunnel, were never built. So, that forces traffic on Canal and 34th Streets, respectively. Would there be exemptions for those streets? It's not fair to have to pay an extra $8 if all you are going to do is take a 10-15 minute jaunt going from end to end, not intending on parking anywhere.
See, for me, I'll never want an iMac, considering that I already have a Dell widescreen 20-inch LCD screen, with the same internal screen as the 20-inch Apple Cinema display, just a few hundred dollars cheaper.
Well, as I'm sure you know, the AppleTV can only do 720p anyway, while the Mini can.
Another great thing about the Intel Mini is that if you aren't happy with OS X, you can always boot linux and run MythTV off of that - the mini uses well-supported-by-Linux parts.
I think it would be a real shame if the mini was discontinued. I love mine, and it satisified my requirements nicely, I wanted a whisper quiet, low power consuming machine that also had a tiny form factor. My electric bill went down $20/month when I switched to it. I even hooked up an amp meter to it and found that under normal usage it only takes up 20-30 Watts - very impressive. I just wish it were a Core 2 Duo and the graphics chipset were a bit better.
I just bought a 55-inch HDTV, and my mini is going to go into DVR duty with my USB2 HDTV receiver. Its lack of noise and built-in remote makes it perfect for the living room.
I'll agree with this, up until the Mac Pro part. Just because you want an upgradable computer, that doesnt mean that you want to pay top dollar for the fastest machine on the market (note that I realize that the Mac Pro isnt overpriced - just that much of it is wasted on the non-power-user).
I completely agree with the parent poster. I love my 12 inch Pbook as well. At home I attached a monitor and USB keyboard/mouse, so that wasn't a problem. And when I was on the road (which wasnt too often), the 12 inch screen was more than enough for me. The form factor was small enough that I was able to fit it in a book bag, so I was able to be inconspicuous on the subway. When it comes to carrying around a laptop, smaller is better.
Well, it's not as simple as ethnicity. Our past ties to slavery still bite us in the ass, unlike Canada. But simply tossing more money at them isnt going to solve the problem.
It's the grandfathered MediaWorks plan from circa 2004 - now I can't make the slightest change to my account or else the Cingular customer service monkeys will "accidentally" delete it!
Isn't 'mobile-to-mobile' a misnomer? It's probably "unlimited Cingular-to-Cingular" instead. Currently, if I call someone on Verizon Wireless, it still comes out of my minutes.
I currently pay $60 for 450 mins, unlimited data, and 1500 text messages for my Treo with Cingular. Thing is, I bought the Treo on eBay, and I swapped SIM cards from my old Motorola. So as far as Cingular is concerned, I'm still using that. They normally want to charge $40/month for unlimted data for Treos (as opposed to the $20 I'm currenly paying), which doesnt really make sense since unlimited dats is unlimited data.
With that in mind this isn't too bad of a deal. It's the same as what I'm paying though 200 text messages instead of 1500. I assume there will be iChat for the iPhone which will use the data plan, so that won't be so bad.
That should not be a consideration...if the ESRB feels that the game deserves an AO rating, then so be it. Take it up with Sony and Nintendo if you don't like their policy.
Dude, just so you know, new MacPros were released just yesterday.
woops, I mean "none but"...

Could a bluetooth mouse take advantage of this, avoiding the need to ever replace batteries again?

They can - doesn't mean they can expect stores to be willing to carry whatever they make though.
Open your own store, then. That way you can sell whatever nobody else wants to....
You can't do an apples-to-apples comparison while this is the case. Why even have a tower when you can barely add anything to it?
