    That's actually really fortunate, and is a big plus for solar polar.

    Hot climates use more power during the day and in summer for aircon. Of course, this is when the sun is shining, and when your solar plant is generating.

    Cold climates use more power during winter and night for heating. There's no sun, so your power plant isn't generating power when it's needed most.

    Solar thermal as base power? Sure, it's somewhat predictable, but doesn't output drop when you get a cloud?

    I find it hard to believe that a capital intensive project like a nuclear power plant would have been economically viable in the 70s but isn't now. Of course this is assuming nuclear plants in the 70s were economically viable, and weren't subsidized.

    To be economically viable basically means cheaper than base load coal, since both stations produce inflexible base load supply. Short run marginal cost is a far larger component in long run marginal costs for coal plants than nuclear plants.

    So in a world of falling technology costs and increasing commodity prices, nuclear is going to become relatively cheaper.

    Texas grid operating statistics are blocked to any non-american IP. This is boring stuff like average prices or sytem demand. It's certainly not sensitive, and every other market allows this stuff to be seen by anyone.

    If he was sure there was going to be an earthquake, then he'd put out the warning, get arrested, and be vindicated when the earthquake hit as he predicted.

    Spamming is a long way down the list of crimes worthy of execution. If you're proposing we execute spammers, it's not a particularly big jump to get rid of everyone who does something wrong.

    Also, is there a term to describe people are prone to use the 'strawman' phrase for every argument?

    How can judges be Democrats? I thought there was a division between the judicial and executive branches of government in USA.

    Is this perhaps referring to the judges' own personal voting habits? Is that relevant? Or is society so segregated into R and D supporters that it's a major factor in every case?
