Eventually the law will catch up with what they are doing, chase them down, and make the potential cost of sharing too much higher than the cost of music/movies. That's clearly what these guys are trying to do.
Or they could just, you know, change their fucking dead business model instead of spending all this money trying to screw with the laws, going against our social morals (sharing is good, selfishness/greed is bad), to try and make the cost of sharing worse than a criminal offense, ruining countless lives in the process.
Thank you! I've been wondering if there was a command to stop that. IT dept fixed my office computer already but it's good to know in case something stupid like this happens again.
I was hoping to see photos of the organisms found. Sadly, from my quick skim of the pdf report, it appears they just did an RNA survey from various places in the lake and reported on the various amounts and types of genome sequences at various temperatures (This is how they determined the organisms were bacteria and archea). So unfortunately, no photos of the organisms.
(those headaches couldn't be related to over-illumination, improper mixing of color temperatures, of course)
And that refutes my argument how exactly?
I can only see the 'too long to reach proper brightness' problem rarely being a problem.
Until you fall down a flight of stairs because of it. (this has happened to me on several occasions, and no I'm not a clutz.)
You can get fluorescent bulbs in a giant variety of color temperatures...just like incandescent bulbs. The claim that 'the color is off' is foolish, you just didn't choose the right bulb for your tastes.
Well I'll give you that one, but I didn't chose any of them, these are lights I've encountered at work and family and friends' houses. All the ones that I've encountered have not looked right.
And I've been waiting for the tech to get better and cheaper before switching. I will not use fluorescent lights in my home. My eyes are sensitive and they give me a headache, take too long to reach proper brightness, use mercury, and plus the color is off. I'd have switched to LED light, even with the higher prices, if they actually put out enough lumens. The highest I could find only put out the light equivalent of a 10-40W incandescent. It's fine for like going to the bathroom late at night or reading a book, but for working on anything important (art, fixing things, building things, etc) they are not acceptable. I hope this is a big enough push to get the tech moving along and the prices down.
How am I supposed to know which neighbor I'm mooching off of? It's not like their SSID has their address on it....uh, I mean... I just pay everyone with a router in the area for access... yeah, that's the ticket.
I was going to say the same. When I was six my grandpa showed me his pistol (after triple checking there were no bullets in the revolver or chamber). He let me hold it to feel how heavy it was. Then he told me to try to pull the trigger (pointing away from anyone and anything at all times). I couldn't do it. He cocked it for me and told me to try again. I had to use both index fingers together to get it to fire. I don't know the difference in trigger weights but I'm willing to bet there's no possible way this kid could have pulled that trigger. Something smells foul here.
Do you have to be to leave your gun out with people in your home, let alone a child? Dad wasn't allowed to do anything upon entering our home after work, not even take off his shoes or coat, until he walked straight to the safe and put his gun away. If he ever forgot, Mom would have kicked his ass out of the house faster than you can say First Post!
Whoops, I meant hydrochloric. Had a stupid teacher tell me it was sulfuric as a child. Must've stuck in my brain more than I would have liked. Regardless, I have many nasty chemicals accessible to test on the drives. In the name of science, not just morbid curiosity, of course...
I work in a chem lab. I would be willing to volunteer time, expertise, and chemicals to test the effects of sulfuric acid at varying concentrations if someone would be willing to donate several Kingston USB drives to test on. Load em up with media and programs, soak in varying concentrations of the acid, clean with distilled water, let dry, attempt to access data. I would imagine the issue would be a matter of liquid tightness of the seals, the chemical makeup of the plastics and metals used in the flash drives, and if/how the bits retain their state on the drive (I don't know much about the way data is stored in the drives. Non-volatile I would imagine as the drives don't have power supplies.).
I've never understood this. It's a laptop. Unless she's sitting on the couch for 4+ hours at a time why is the laptop even plugged in? The only time my laptop is plugged in is when it is sitting on my desk, turned off and recharging. I've seen several of my friends doing this as well and it's always boggled my mind. The cord should never be in a place capable of being tripped on. (LAN party the only exception and even then it's pushing it...)
First thing I thought. Gods forbid someone has to type in a password... (honestly if you can't figure out that you should put a password on both your wifi connection and your router you probably shouldn't be playing with those things)

"I don't want to have to buy a batman costume..."
What's it cost to obtain a silencer from the friendly neighborhood gun dealer?
About a dollar or two.
I've got the cure!
It's called a condom and not screwing nasty hoes!
I don't think that word means what you think it means...
But a few people will always appreciate the fine craftsmanship of an artisan heart.
With fava beans and a nice chianti.
Exactly what I was going to say. Would mod up if I had points.
Welcome to the 21st century. *cough*
Just a quite note, my two door coupe weighs 3000 lbs (ie 1.5 tons), an SUV weighs quite a bit more than that. Otherwise I agree with your post.
Oh, you can see the lights flickering?!
Where exactly did you see that in my post?...
(those headaches couldn't be related to over-illumination, improper mixing of color temperatures, of course)

his antenna is too small to allow him to download actual data
That's what she said.
How can anyone take you seriously when your mascots are an elephant or a donkey?...
In the future, it could be harder to make money playing guitar with all of the competition from dead or retired artists.
With all the copyright nonsense going on how is this any different than in the present?

No, but your parents can.
Whatever happened to Love Thy Neighbor?
Tried, restraining order put a stop to it though...
