    Actually IIRC the guy that runs it gets the albums from the bands and posts samples of the songs they want him to. The bands themselves do not. The site he may be thinking of is mp3.com (at least it was around 1999). I found a ton of awesome artists through that. Last time I went to it it was completely changed. Not sure if the same self posting goes on anymore. I actually tracked down two bands that I couldn't find material to buy online. Both of them gave me explicit permission to share their albums and files, both sent a hard copy in the mail (only one of which asked for money and that was just to cover shipping). One of the bands finally produced an album 4 years later and I bought that one, even though I already had 90% of the original files that went into it.

    What is the target purpose for this? Research experiments that could be done? What kind of safety goggles are used with this (material/wavelength tint/etc) and what kind of clothing/protective gear will NOT set on fire if accidental exposure should occur? Also, what kind of battery life are we looking at? (or is this a plug in stationary laser?)

    If someone is that much of a danger sexually, then why haven't we castrated them? Would that not go a long way in ensuring that they do not commit such a crime again?

    No it would not. These crimes are not a sexual thing, they are a power thing. They will just use something else (ie another object) to commit the crime.

    So make the wings foldable. That's hardly beyond current capabilities. They mention in the article that they are trying to get the design to fit to current airport layouts so I'm sure they've considered the space problems.

    I've been using Ubuntu since 6.10 and IIRC I had no problems with sound what so ever from 7.10 through 9.04. Then 9.10 with pulse took a perfectly working system (my system that is) and shat on it. But yes I have heard other people have problems with ALSA as well. ALSA always worked fine for me before though.

    Have they fixed the pulse audio clusterfuck yet? How about flash and java working properly out of the box? (being able to watch youtube and hulu without ridiculous installs and configurations should be a serious focus for serving the general user)

    If the original is destroyed, lost or stolen. All the copies are needed to be destroyed.

    Um, doesn't that kind of blow the point of having a backup copy?...
