    your chronology is incorrect, adSense is from 2004, they bought youtube in 06 and gmail was released later in 04 I don't think adwords is to blame for content less sites, there were plenty before 04 checkout has no startup costs, they cant afford to run checks, I agree this seems risky.

    Who is more important to software development then programmers? I don't write windows apps or work on environmental compatibility because I want windows, as an os and as an environment, to die and I don't care how long it takes. I suspect other programmers feel similarly.

    the only use for bronze is weapons?? what about chisels and nails, to name the first things that come to mind...parent is not insiteful. To get back on topic, yes the scientist is full of himself ( required if you want grant money ) and yes there is more work to be done before this is in any way useful ( like artificial amino acids ), but this is substantial progress regardless.
