couldn't really have an article about Tilden without mentioning another REALLY DAMN COOL provider of nifty little robotics, that are based on the same concept (B.E.A.M) that Mark Tilden is famous for.
not for the lazy, though. most products are in kit form, which means you have to build it yourself. On the plus side, you get to build it yourself!:]
And the network-over-a-phoneline? Just about nobody uses that one, either.
you mean those "modem" things? yea, nobody really uses those. Or perhaps dsl? naw, who'd want that either. complete and utter crap, all of it...
Myself, i'll just stick with my can-and-string broadband connection. much better than messing with telephone lines
I've played the demo...

and it kinda makes me feel dirty:P
I mean, it's like a cheap movie. 'Crack Password' buttons, a nice little world map to make connetions through. A storyline of a sort. Everything that I've yet to see in real life...
Though, the temptation to yell out quotes from Hackers while playing this was unbeleivable:]
think about it. If anyone can link messages to coordinates, don't you think advertisers will be the first to abuse this? hell, they go for everything else that can send messages. though, I wonder if you'll have to pay normal cell charges for these messages...
These can be used as monitors much in the same way a cardboard box with a picture of Jay Leno drawn on the side of it can be used as a TV. ie: not at all
sorry to burst anyones happy bubble of mis-information
Anyone remember that big rabble about Bio Computers? Using the 4 acids (or whatever) in DNA to do the work and move the info around?
I dunno, I remember seeing an article somewhere about it, thought to myself "hey, that'd be cool", and that was about it. I still think it'd be a neat idea, though, except for the possibility of having to feed your computer, and that a virus could mean a trip to the drug store:]
yea, the sentence seems a little short. I mean, sure 8 months may seem like a "long time", but if you engage in criminal activities as such, don't expect to get off light. just because the crime was committed on a computer, dosn't mean that it's any less of a crime.
I know some people would disagree with me, but I'm quite set on my view with this. It's not like he was trying to perpetrate freedom of information or anything like that. He didn't crack CSS or E-Book security.
I really doubt we'll be seeing any "Free Mafiaboy" buttons, banners or bumper stickers
Man, i've always loved the idea of streaming audio. Even a 5 gig mp3 collection can get boring sometimes, and it's nice to be able to listen to some stuff you've never heard or heard of before.
I was kinda hoping that online radio would become stronger in the future, not weaker... oh well.
Good 'ol big blue has been playing the same game as well...
I bought a 20gig Deskstar HD, and was humoured to see that it was called an IBM Deskstar 60GXP. Misleading? naw. everyone can see that something called a 60GXP _must_ be only 20gigs
check out www.solarbotics.com, they've got some pretty cool little desktop type things there (little solar powered robots and the like, i think they've been on slashdot once before)
hmmmmm.....i think it would kinda be a pain to have a seperate distro for each peice of hardware. i could boot a distro that supports my motherboard good, or i could boot one for my video card, or my sound card, or my alchholic habits:] sounds like that'd give you just a LITTLE down time... why not just release good drivers or kernel hacks? or maybe i'm just a whiner....
that's the best new's i've heard today, U.T being one of the finest games i've ever seen. but what i wonder is will we get cheaters like what happen when quake1 went gpl? just something to ponder
