    Sadly the Brazilian newspapers are too dumb to make 1st April jokes. Or thinking on the other hand, they spend so much time trying to lie to us Brazilians all year long that we should not be able to see the difference when is April 1.

    All this would be justified if they were not trying to force integrated spyware in the operating system itself, trying to force the use of "apps" that the developer of the same should kill himself with shame and with an interface that makes me sick to see so much usability disaster. The idea of a one core product is good, but the Windows 10 is too much a piece of shit to be able to hold the position of core system.

    I fully agree. And what disturbs me most is the plain face that they use to say such a thing, as if it were absolute truth. I'm afraid of people who can lie with such ease and so much scorn from the intelligence of others.

    Hum... If these benchmarks are true, so now you have my attention. I never thought about using Linux seriously as a desktop because of the poor performance of GUIs and the ugly mess that are the desktop applications for the same, but if the AAA games are getting to have good performance on it then is a step in the right direction.

    Another commentator have a point. If only one company doing this it would be at a commercial disadvantage in relation to other companies. Would only work if all companies have to pay the same amount more and and thus maintain the competitive balance

    Interesting... The last time I saw the prices, a Galaxy S5 was almost the same as an same "generation" iPhone, but the current flagships here are costing $1131* for the S7 Edge and $921* for the iPhone 6S (I went to check the latest prices here). It seems that Samsung decided to sell the S7 as a luxury item here too.

    All aplications as "web apps"... Yeah, right. Look, I am a "web developer" and yet I did not even dream of trying to make desktop applications using html and javascript. HTML is not made for this, "apps" using HTML are a absurd kludge wasting CPU cycles like water. I only tolerate this huge overheard (I am also desktop developer and systems developer) in situations where the use of HTML makes sense to do, like... web pages.

    Yep, you missed something. He went out saying that all existing systems are inferior then it will have to prove it. And given the history so far of Rust, I have serious doubts that he will succeed.

    Compare an iPhone with a Android smartphone in the same price range and you will understand why I said that. The Android phone will give you a lot better hardware for the same price range.

    No. Overpriced and inferior hardware, locked OS without any possibility of customization, really shitty way (iTunes) to retrieve or store musics/photos/etc. Why would I buy such a thing except to show to others that I am rich (status symbol)?

    In my case the solution was completely disable the Windows Update service (denying the service from booting, not just change a setting on the control panel). No more Windows updates for me, but these days I no longer trust the service to leave it on.

    You need more context. You're right, the request is reasonable. The problem was the judge's reaction when it was not obeyed. Here the judges find themselves gods and believe that they must be obeyed without hesitation for more absurdly wrong they are, and usually they are absurdly wrong. Add in the equation that here in Brazil judges have too much power and that we are a corrupt country where it is easy to buy judges, and then you will understand why judges are so frowned upon here.
