As a pilot I would be concerned about GPS degradation (we get reports of it). This could lead to a number of issues with aircraft navigation, especially for pilots flying VFR with handheld units that do not have RAIM. (The FAA says those are for situational awareness only, but that is frequently abused.)
Not sure about goats, but cow flatulence is a major source of methane, an even worse greenhouse gas than CO2.
I guess we can't so anything right. We are doomed
I did not get any type of joke. Seemed like a legitimate post to assert that someone would want to steal copper wiring, as this happens all the time given the recent price of copper (especially last year).
Perhaps you are implying that the original poster knew that the fiber was made of glass when he/she suggested the theft of copper? If so I did not see any way to tell this.
Please explain the joke as you see it. I tend to get most jokes, and didn't find much humorous is the original post.
Hell, they aren't even going to let you stream video over your AT&T broadband without charging you soon. (They claim they will charge the content providers, but that is just another way of charging YOU. You will pay for it... kind of like taxing corporations... no such thing - it just results in higher prices, or fewer jobs...)
AT&T is one of the biggest enemies of Net Neutrality. There is no way they are going to let people stream 128k or better (below 128k is not even listenable) for very long before they start gouging you. There are already hidden limits on the amount of data you get with your "unlimited" plan...

Oh great! Now Sony will subpoena all of /.'s web logs and sue all of ./'s readers for disseminating the key.
I had 5 of 25 machines crash last night. Could this be related? (Yes, I am serious...)
I bet you could rack mount a couple servers in the trunk (1U). Fastest datacenter on Earth.
There's always some bozo who has to go and throw away my lunch. Who are they to judge the malodoressness of my victuals??

Perhaps you want to think about that question... When they say fiber they don't mean lots of little copper fibers... Them fibers is glass!
Interesting timing for this report to come out right as Obama is asking for draconian emergency powers to be able to shut off the internet and other private networks at will without regard for any law. http://www.tomshardware.com/news/obama-shut-down-internet-legislation,7478.html
Oh, must be in the wrong thread...

Spoken like a web-designer/control freak.
I'm goin' to get laid. Where the hell are you going?
Just get a Diesel and avoid the whole battery mess... Modern Diesels are quiet, don't stink, and have no problems starting in cold weather. VW will beat the Prius in mileage handily: http://wot.motortrend.com/6293714/green/look-out-prius-volkswagen-golf-bluemotion-diesel-concept-capable-of-60-plus-mpg/index.html Current US Diesels get great mileage, and have no batteries to recycle (other than your standard lead acid car battery). Diesels are wildly popular in Europe where gas prices have long been absurd.
Here is a mirror of the big file: http://porksteak.com/ucsb_evoting_attack_dl.mov Will leave up as long as possible.
