You could get the original Super Mario Bros on the Nintendo Entertainment System to crash by getting more than 99 lives. Of course, it is one of those bugs that you have to go out of your way to trigger... but even old console games can crash.

  2. Re:Say it ten times fast: on VIA/Apex Game Console Details Leaked · · Score: 1

Before I modded my XBOX, it had crashed multiple times with EVERY game I got for it:

    1. GTA3 Double Pack (both GTA3 and VC crashed)
    2. DX: Invisible War
    3. Prince of Persia (not a crash, but a corrupted save game where the girl got stuck levitating above a bottomless pit effectively halting game progress)

I since became fed up with the crappy official software, and I tried a save-game XBOX hack, which lets me play MPEG4 movies and classic console and arcade games on my XBOX. While the media player has crashed, it is still in beta, but the classic console gaming system emulators have not crashed... so I have literally thousands of great games that don't crash!

So in the end, my XBOX was worth the $170, but the official XBOX games aren't worth their price tag. You are better off hacking your XBOX and not buying official games.

My XBOX is a few months old, and every game that I have bought for it has crashed. This is on a new unmodded XBOX!

What is funny is that I modded my XBOX with a software mod, and none of the XPort classic console emulators have crashed. So hacked/modded software works better than Microsoft's blessed software.

Pathetic... but for $170 it makes a great MPEG4 and classic game player.

What is "nudity"? In Iran as a man you can't go topless in public, but in the USA it is legal. Why the double standard? A really physically fit man is very appealing to the opposite sex with his shirt off... just as a physically fit woman is appealing with her top off.

The fact that a topless woman is considered obscene is really sad. We all feed off of breasts for the first year of our life... what is wrong with a girl exposing her boobs in public? Do you really think it is going to hurt someone?

Thanks! I currently use a laptop with a Radeon 7500 Mobility. It has great free drivers for both 2D and 3D, but the hardware itself is slightly underpowered for my tastes.

I will have to check out each of the Radeon 9200/9100/9000/8500 series to see which one is the most powerful under Linux.

Did you even play the first two GTA's? The 3rd game is more of the same, but yes... done better - with one exception: multiplayer.

The original GTA for the PC was a nonlinear "sandbox" action adventure game with heavy levels of violence. I am not sure how GTA3 qualifies as a "huge" departure from the first two games.

What really ticks me off is that critics claimed the original GTA was garbage and not worth playing. I LOVED IT! I thought the critics were politically correct idiots back in 1997.

Then the developers improve the graphics, sound, and physics... and yet keep the overall game and gameplay the same... and the game is deamed "revolutionary". HA! The critics truely are idiots.

Gamers are silly people with little to no memory, which results in a industry of sequals.

Most Windows games run on WineX or plain Wine, so what is your point? My point is that the games that I enjoy playing: FPS games - especially the first Quake, run best on Linux. So I use Linux where it is better, "instead of settling for less in the name of misguided zeal".

When it comes to first person shooters such as Quake, Linux is better because the mousing is better.

If Windows is hands down better for games, then why is it that under Linux I can get a 500hz mouse sample rate, and under Windows I can only get a 125hz sample rate? Games such as FPS's and RTS's rely heavily on smooth responsive mousing, which is better on Linux than on Windows.

That is, if you don't consider hybrid games such as "Deus Ex", which is a RPG, action-adventure, FPS - all in one.

Or Savage, which is a RTS and FPS rolled into one. Note Savage runs natively on both windows and Linux. Why aren't you playing it yet? You can even buy it online directly from the developer. SUPPORT LINUX GAME DEVELOPERS!
