You're travelling to another jurisdiction tomorrow, where cheques are not accepted. You need money immediately, a transfer takes several days. What do you do? And that's not a hypothetical case, that was my actual experience. If you need to operate outside of the banking system and you need to do it fast - you're not allowed to do that.
Ever tried coming to a local branch and withdrawing more than 5K? In Canada, where I am they will tell you that they don't have that much and that you have to call them in advance next time. So much for it being "your money". The truth is those rules are not made for your protection. The protect the bank from (a) robberies, (b) bank runs.
It's official, number of cameras on phones is like number of razor blades on a Gillette. Waiting to upgrade my phone to the one with 5 cameras. You take one shot - it takes 5!
Has anyone compared wired to wireless quality? Are there any blind A/B tests comparing the built-in DAC of the iPhone using wired headphones vs wireless? And also the built-in DAC with an external DAC?
I just purchased myself a $350 sound card and sat down to listen to all my sources side by side to see if I would be able to identify the difference. I started with the expensive piece and then moved on to my HTC cell, Lenovo laptop 3.5 out, and an external Sound Blaster X-Fi. I would say you need a bit of a trained ear, but the differences are pretty audible. The HTC and the laptop sounded very similarly - they both overloaded certain bass frequencies, making them sound like garbage. Mind you that I've been listening to those devices for a long time before and never complained - the difference is only noticeable after you listen to the high-end device for some time. The Sound Blaster sounded differently - better than the laptop and the cell, but it still overloaded a bit deeper bass frequency - not as dirty, but still can't compare to the higher end device.
The real problem with this thing is that it doesn't have an always-on microphone that listens to you all the time. And it eats into the market of the devices that do.
Somehow 1 time out of 3 when I use bluetooth, it fails to connect giving me various excuses. Besides, AFAIK bluetooth is not lossless. Sure, shitty Chromecast puck is not gonna give you audiophile level quality, but at least there's not transcoding loss happening.
As I understand Electron is about copying a Chromium runtimes into every desktop app and running all your UI in that webview.
A PWA is just a normal webapp. And it just runs in your normal browser, but perhaps with some of the browser UI (toolbars, address bar, etc.) chopped off, to make it look like desktop app. That's how it is on the mobile anyway. So with PWA you're not bundling Chromium runtimes all over the place.
I think it's not so much about embrace/extend as it is about Microsoft just trying really hard to make people think that their appstore is somewhat relevant.
No, but most of the people with the money to invest in it are sort of located in North America and Western Europe so the best time to dump your holdings, which isn't going to be instant if you're dumping a lot, is when people in those places are catching z's.
False, most of the buyers of bitcoin are in Japan and South Korea

Your access to your money is limited. If you need to have them urgently - you just can't. You don't have full control.
"some banks even allow you to withdraw up to 5,000 francs per day (or 10,000 a month) at the cash machine without advance notice."
I should be able to withdraw 100% of my money immediately, no matter the amount, or else it's not my money.
Why is he modded as troll? What is wrong with that statement?

A few more people will stop using IE, as the big blue E icon that they call "Internet" will now launch a fairly modern Edge browser.
Actually that exists in native CSS: https://developer.mozilla.org/...
Alas, as long as you need support for dreaded IE11, you're out of luck: https://caniuse.com/#feat=css-...
And the package management solution on Windows is...?
Chocolatey (https://chocolatey.org/)
Not saying it's great or better than what's on Linux, but it's definitely better than nothing.
Well, they asked online, and nobody clicked "Dislike".
A lot of people in Jamaica clicked "Dislike". They thought it means "Dis I like".

Does it mean that there will be a special firmware version just for Korea with deletable bloatware and the same old for everybody else?
So there will still be an API that works, if you play their game..
Ofcourse, you need to let people block the non-google ads somehow to take care of the competition.

All the convenience of those assistant devices comes from the fact that you can use them from across the room. This Alias thing makes a lot of sense.

That's totally serial
On the positive side, PWAs will now have access to sensors and there's even less need for native apps.
1 Doge = 10 Doge???? Sooooo blockchain!

Yes, and one of the main points of them is that the user doesn't have to go to the Play Store / App store to install them. Enter Microsoft.
The only effective counter balance to that is Democracy.
The only effective counter balance is Decentralization
