No matter how good it is, it's not going to sell. A certain degree of conformity is necessary. That said, I'm sure there are people out there who are clearly smart enough to be able to combine A Good Time (TM) with Something New (TM) that Everyone Can Enjoy (SM).
What about those of us who get extreme motion sickness? I cannot even ride 7 miles w/o feeling sick (I HAVE to drive). I understand biking and all that (I love it), but it's also not particularly realistic in a place like NH where everything is so spread out.
Do you have a state by state and province by province list of stats? Because I'm willing to bet NH doesn't have 5.5 murders per 100,000 people every year. (I believe it was less than 1.0 per 100,000 last year.)
I commend you on spending as much time as possible with your children!! My parents spent a lot of time with me, and I'm very glad they did.
But some points...
The fact that your child is good at computers, to me, stems not only from the fact that you taught her early (and I say good for the both of you!), but that she has inherited the intelligence required to program from you, your wife, or both (and if you are a woman on Slashdot, my apologies for stereotyping). I think that if people in the shittier parts of town had the intelligence to program, they'd have the intelligence to be able to get jobs to get them out of the shitty parts. And there's nothing wrong with b-ball, football, or car racing... unless that's all you do is watch them.
I happen to be one of those people that think, even though I don't play many sports, that it does require a different type of intelligence and natural physical skills (akin to raw natural intelligence) that not everyone has.
Syndicate Wars was an excellent game, too. But Steel/ Cyber Empires was the first PC game I ever bought, and I must have played it for hundreds of hours and against many of my friends. If they could release some kind of followup, with network support (or GPL the code now) I'd be happier than Jessica Alba's boyfriend.
I believe Arizona state law would be beneficial in this anology. If you witness the "theft" of your property, you can shoot the guy so he stops. Of course, IANAL nor do I live in Arizona... or am I just restating an urban myth?
Does using painted sheet metal offer any kind of added structural strength to the car? Or is it so little that a strong frame with a polymer outside would do as well in a crash?
Does this remind anyone else of the game in Ender's Game that was supposed to keep the genius kids occupied during their downtime?

KDE 3.1 Released
·
· Score: 1
I did the same thing, but (since it's only a desktop system [sometimes]) I was doing an update world. Then, when I got up this morning and it still wasn't done, I checked to see if KDE 3.1 was synced up, and it was. I stopped, re-synced, and now I can continue to heat my house (American cars do in fact start when it's below zero) and compile great apps at the same time.

is where can I get one?
about the Sco vs. IBM suit, I can't help but think that SCO is going to be worse off than Mike Tyson's cellmate when all is said and done.
Does this remind anyone else of the start of the Japanese Imperial State in Shadowrun?
Damn, that was a cool game.
How dare you try to suggest a social solution to a technological problem! ;-)
to be talking about eunichs all the time.

I can see it now:
Is that a T610 in your pocket or are you happy to see me?
Just to play a bit of devil's advocate, is it better to do the things you actually like, or socially whore yourself to be popular?
Yeah, but Tiffany got naked in Playboy. I hope we can expect the same for Britney.
>>Those mp3s on your hard drive aren't fair use. Those divx copies of lord of the rings aren't fair use either.
I thought if we owned the CDs or DVDs, it would in fact be fair use?
I thought EA owned Square, or do they just publish Square's titles, or what?
I thought the First Amendmant only guarantees your right to speak, not be heard?

Sounds like the Metaverse in Snow Crash to me.

I'd always thought hiccups were the natural reaction to getting royally tanked.
Many OSS people seem to find that license is a big deal as well, not just price.
Besides, I think Linux (and many other OSS projects) have come a long way in usability recently.
Due to the buffalo chicken sub I ate yesterday for lunch, I too can now produce cosmic amounts of power.

Yet. I'm sure we're all well aware of how US law (or its equivalent) will eventually make its way to your neck of the woods, wherever that is.
