probably quite exceptional , here we got three national languages and people are supposed to speak two (i dont know how exactly but german is official but it doesnt count in schools somehow, not that anything else makes sense), something that should have been replaced a long time ago by native language+english for each side of the country (that way everyone could actually understand the other side) since almost no one really is bilingual when you look at the real world here. i guess the wait a while will be inevitable , i havent seen one single bit of info on the dyi/oem-version for home users who like to build their own rig and update one component at a time. You can either upgrade or buy a whole new rig with w8 preinstalled ? Sounds to me like yo-ho-ho across the world, and a bottle of rum ofcourse
The thing is, if the w8 version of directx is revised and most likely not available on windows 7, like they did it with xp and dx10 then the gaming crowd will be more or less screwed, unless everyone just forks out for a brandnew non-moddable box ? highly unlikely
maybe it turns into a good thing for games on linux then :p

i haventn enjoyed a doom since 2 really ... i was just wondering, the indie bundle presents you with games you can get for both windows and linux alike. These are all guys with pretty limited budget compared to some of the giants. Is the cost of compiling it for both platforms really that high ? Is it development cost? Or testing ? What's the difference for a platform like steam where you don't even have distribution and packaging costs ? Or at least very quantum compared to having dvds pressed and boxed and shipped accros the worldwide world. Can't be testing, these days they call it beta and have thousands test it for free. Development ? That's where i'm in the shade ... is most of this written in C-something and then compiled or is most of it written at machine-level ? What about the wine-crowd, how much would they like or not like to aid ... even for very little to have games ported ? Or is it just this anal thing about disclosure ?
i really don't get it , it probably wont sell as many copies since you don't have as many users but what's the actual cost to compile it for both platforms ? Most games get sold before they're finished anyway, it's up to the buyers to track the bugs and report them. Even now, months after release this week-end i noticed for instance hunted the demons forge still has glitches in it on my x360 slim, not even six months since i bought it after the other one broke down, forcing me to restart the game every now and then.

And as much as I dislike Gamestop, so are we.

Ireland has pretty low corporate tax and for a business that doesn't have expenses from physical transport this is probably the best place to be seated in europe. I think it's gonna get much worse and maybe old europe and maybe even uncle sams white picket house will be the next colony. Irony? Fate? history repeating ? what goes up must come down and more cliché like that. It's mostly the unwill to change and the blind clinging to the past, forcing today to be like what 'they' knew that gives most trouble.
