  1. Surprise Surprise. on The Pirate Bay Is Being Sued Again · · Score: 5, Insightful

More big media companies going after money. Maybe it is just my thought but why can't American companies just bother the Americans and not everyone else. This is why people hate us!

The more absurd thing would be comparing an ip address to a home address. Unlike a home address, an ip address can not be easily spoofed. Nor does can it change on the flip of a coin. Although service providers usually continuously reassign the ip address through DHCP, doesn't mean they always do. Ip addresses don't even identify computers, they identify devices on the network. Today, routers and hubs are used almost everywhere, meaning that the ip address isn't even identifying the computer it is identifying the router. MAC addresses would be more effective, but they can be spoofed just like an ip address. Plus if you use a proxy server, both this servers become even harder to find. Not to mention someone could be on another persons computer.

  15. Re:Am I the only one? on RIAA Spokesman Says DRM Is Dead · · Score: 1

No, I completely agree, I think the RIAA is just a bunch of money whores. I was happy to see that a judge appointed a Pro Bono lawyer to the one case and hope that it happens in all cases so that the RIAA can't just go after weak victims with no legal representation. The amount of news we give them on this site is insane especially, since most of slashdot hates the RIAA, due to many of us being opensource whores who believe in the freedom of information and media(I'm one of them).

  16. Sounds like an changed version of print on Is Battery-Free 2-Factor ID Secure? · · Score: 1

Printing companies have been using this method of authentication and reading of confidential material for years. They print patterns like this on boxes or products hidden and have people go into stores to verify that the store is selling an authentic product. Colgate started doing this after a Chinese company was importing toothpaste under the Colgate brand. It is also used just for sending secure messages where only the reader has a window that will work to read the printed code.

  17. Am I the only one? on RIAA Spokesman Says DRM Is Dead · · Score: 0, Troll

Who is tired about the constant posting of all of the RIAA articles, I read slashdot daily and every day there is at least 2-3 articles about the RIAA whether is it cases or what? Is this like some train wreck that people are interested in?

  18. I hope this happens on Court Appoints Pro Bono Counsel For RIAA Defendant · · Score: 1

I hate the greedy RIAA, it is about time someone turned the tables on them. They go after people who can barely pay the settlement nevertheless for counsel. If this starts happening around the country, the RIAA will have no easy targets and greater lose the power of fear.

  20. Music Industry Wants a Cut of the Booty! on Music Industry Wants a Cut of Pirate Bay Sale · · Score: 1

Seriously is anyone besides me sick and tired of the music industry begging and asking for money from everyone. I swear they would want a cut of a homeless guy's shopping cart full of cans if they found out he downloaded a song before he was homeless. It is getting rediculous everyday on Slashdot there is something new they want a cut from or want money from. Yet the RIAA won't show anyone their earnings books. Next we are going to hear Obama downloaded a song illegally from the White House and the Music Industry will want a cut of Fort Knox.

  25. Re:Watched the video on Aion Shaping Up For US Launch · · Score: 1

Honestly, doesn't really look too much like WoW. It is a fantasty MMORPG so you can draw comparisons quiet easily, but in terms of the graphics and what they they aren't overwhelmingly a like. And there is a light and a dark gloomy side of the the game depending on which you choose to be a part of, read the synopsis, so you can at least post semi educated. I'll agree that the inventory and health gauges and windows are nearly mirror images, but so many other MMORPGs have the same dashboard making it hard to criticize. I don't play WoW anymore and have no intention to purchase or play this game, but any Fantasy MMORPG is going to draw comparison with WoW, but none will be able to beat it. Someone needs to find a new niche market to exploit in MMORPGs.
