I didn't say I could do it with a 3D printer. I said from a receiver casting!
It's an unfinished piece of metal that is legally not a firearm. I can and have drilled the necessary holes and milled the slide rails and barrel seat. I can do this and the assembly in less than 2 hours.
I'm not an "expert" but I know a lot about guns. I have built them. I can build a functional 1911 from a receiver casting in less than 2 hours. Once you learn how to do it, it's not hard.
Where I live, it's hard to get past the HR drones if you don't have at least a BS on your rèsumè. They'll bin in as soon as they see it without a 4 year degree.
My experience with coders has been mixed. I have known some good programmers without much of an educational background in CS/IS and I have known some garbage self-taught programmers.
When I was a co-op and finishing my BS, I was working as a programmer for a big company. One of the other guys there was a decent dotNET programmer and he was self-taught. One day, we all took about an hour to code up programs to brute force the answer to a riddle. He wrote his in C# or something and I wrote mine in PERL. Both of us got the right answer but mine executed in much less time than his. He just couldn't understand it. He had never been taught about speed.
My leaving my front door unlocked does not mean you aren't guilty if breaking and entering if you open the door, walk in, and take something that isn't yours.
If your door is unlocked but closed, yes that's breaking and entering; but if your door is open, it's not breaking and entering. He is guilty of burglary and criminal trespassing .
I barely graduated high school. When I went to college at 18, I was put on academic suspension after 1 year.
I went back to college as a slightly older adult. Most of my classes were after work or late mornings instead of starting my day at 08:00. I'm sure most of the difference was in how I had grown and matured but not all of it. As a professional, working daily, I do my best work in the late morning through mid afternoon.
One side has 300 million guns and the other side is confused about which lavatory to use and cries over pronouns "because words hurt" but don't think that incrementalism won't work. Every inch we allow them to move their agenda forward is just one step closer to the civilian disarmament that they really want but few will admit.
CBS All Access, YouTube Red, Disney's Whatever Service and what next? They need to accept that Netflix and Amazon are in charge with Hulu as the straggling little brother.
I'm actually interested in watching the Cobra Kai series but I'm NOT subscribing to YouTube Red. That shit is just not going to happen.
I knew this topic would be addressed in the comments.
Damn it, I love you nerds.

What the fuck is "gun abuse"?
Is that when you don't clean and oil your guns after shooting?

I have had the plans for 5 years. I don't want a 3D printed gun. I want to have the choice.

This kind of shit is precisely why I won't do Office 360 or any of that other SaaS bullshit. It only encourages more of it.
My computer is mine. Wholly owned by me and used as I see fit. There's no way I'd pay for the privilege of using someone else's desktop environment.
LK
Agreed. I have seen that too.
I think formal education coupled with a genuine interest in the subject matter and some aptitude is the right balance.

From casual to trivial.
LK
Agreed.
I still have an optical drive and I intend to for the foreseeable future. I still have old games that I want to play every once in a while.
Do you not do this or have you already created images of everything?

Don't forget
- anything in support of private citizens being "allowed" to own the kinds of firearms they currently own.

Ubuntu 20.10 Rechargeable RoboSnatch
I'm in my early 40s, grew up playing video games and I, as well as many others in my age range are good security analysts.

That's the thing. I probably wouldn't have. So, I'm still saying that I prefer our modern problems.

And the average lifespan was what, 30-40 years?
I'll take our modern problems over theirs.
LK
Well, evolution IS a theory. It's just the theory that's currently the most likely to accurately explain the origin of species.
LK
I haven't bought an MP3 in years but I still buy CDs from time to time.

As long as you never attack me or my family, you have nothing to fear from my guns.

Citi just announced a bunch of gun related restrictions on credit card processing.
I think it's just a matter of time until the NRA and NSSF start a bank to step into that void.
The last civil was was over slavery and money, the next one will be over guns.
LK
Indeed. I only came to this entry to see if anyone else had made this same observation.
