By the time your 512-bit system is fully deployed, we will be communicating with parallel universes and people will be talking about how we really need to deploy a 1024-bit addressing system.
The problem though I think is advertising. Or lack of it as the case may be. If people think of Linux as a cheap alternative to Windows and don't appreciate it as a separate platform in it's own right, then most people are going to pay the slightly higher price tag for the "real thing".
They'd have to monitor/run more than just the exit nodes in order to figure out it was you though right? Isn't that the whole idea?
Just a single un-compromised node on the path from you to the destination would mean you were still anonymous (assuming there was enough traffic on the network). Although, if there wasn't much traffic and they had your entry and exit node you might be in trouble?
Also. Totem, the default movie player in Ubuntu, comes with a plugin to search and watch YouTube videos out of the box. No flash required (although I think you need to install a codec).
To get a.au address you need to have a business, proven by providing your ABN (Australia Business Number). So I guess it's fair enough that this domain is removed if they weren't following these rules but I didn't RTFA.
On the other hand, Steven Conroy is one of the countries biggest douche bags so he completely deserves all the shit he gets.
We've been using this instruction set for years and years now. There's gotta be something better around by now. Is it ARM? Cell?
Are Microsoft and Windows the only reasons we haven't moved on? How hard would it be for them to target a different architecture? Linux seems to manage fine in this regard. Rewrite a bit of assembly and choose a different c compiler. Shouldn't be too hard right?
Yes but perhaps it's not the person who is broken but society. We are the product of our environment. Perhaps he can't be "fixed" but I think in this case, prevention is far better than cure. By prevention I mean, preventing him from doing it in the first place.
What drove him to be that way? We live in a highly competitive, capitalistic environment that pushes very selfish "if you want something, take it" sort of attitudes. I think society has failed this man. We collectively have failed this man. Now we can pretend we are none to blame and lock him up in jail for his whole life. We can try to forget about it by conveniently putting him to death so he's out of our consciousness. OR we can take a look at the world we live in and try to make it a better place.
Someone who would do something like that has probably suffered a life of abuse them selves and is probably more in need of mental help than life in prison.
I reckon people should get organized and boycott the whole movie when they do stupid shit like this.
Fuck it, boycott the whole MPAA. Make sure they never get a cent of your money. Go and do something useful rather than watching movies (or just watch independent movies)
Why is this modded troll? He has a good point. The difference between your public webpage and your facebook page is that only your friends are meant to be able to see your facebook page whereas your webpage is on the public web for anyone.
Your human-assisted privlege escalation code will never make it into a default repo which is the only way people (expect those who know what they are doing) should be installing software. Because of that, it will never get executed by anyone.
The software repo is one of the most important security features that protects users from themeselves. It's easy to tell a new linux user "only install software via the repo" than it is to educate a windows user on how to identify dangerous software out there on the web.
If your code actually exploits a flaw in a running service or some such thing then obviously thats a different story.
...you have to understand that the clients who are convinced that it works are actually feeling better by taking the placebo...
But was it worth it?
They got the benefit of pain releif but only at the cost of being a potential intelectual burden on society. If people like that mind their own business they can believe what they want but if they start using their uninformed opinions to make the world worse for the rest of us then I say it's better to educate rather than let them just believe.
Mod parent up. There's way too many people here talking about climate science who know nothing about climate science. We would expect people to listen to us and trust us about computer science related issues so we should listen to climate scientists about climate related issues.

Are you a fan of Zeitgeist by chance?
Police departments with quotas truly disgust me.

I'm not expecting to receive a pay check after I quit my job so why should a band receive your money after they break up?
Wasn't it other people who had their accounts compramised? Not google employees themselves?

It's a bad day to be chinese when even a democratictly ellected government is able to bring in obscene censorship like this.

WebmasterNeal is talking about page rendering, not loading the browser in the first place.

Yeah, people suck.
You can't fix everyone.

*sigh*, who am i kidding..

Just playing the devils advocate.
Hungry?
Updates would break the entire operating system and the IT staff had to hire temps just to fix driver problems and roll the dice editing config files.
Wouldn't happen if the IT staff knew what they were doing.
Why is Linux still locking up?
Unsupported hardware. This goes back to the IT staff. Don't install an operating system on hardware which doesn't support it!

a couple of US$ will buy a Kalashnikov
Wow, that's tempting. How illegal do you reckon it would be to invest?

Ring them up and complain. Tell them you'll switch ISP.
Everything.
