    The fastest development comes from a group of motivated individuals who are almost all the same (ie. background, experience, language preference, o/s preference)

    The most robust development comes from the most diverse teams.

    Rarely does fast = robust, or vice versa.

    Steyn doesn't need to prove Mann was a fraud, he must prove he had a reasonable basis to think Mann was a fraud. Proving Mann was a fraud would be a slam dunk. If he can do neither, his wallet is in a world of hurt.

    I think you may have hit the answer, the code running on the DSP's in the line units. 2000x(average # of SM's)x(Average number of Line Units)x(Average # of DSP's per line unit). The DSP's run continuously for the duration of the call.

    eg. Call timer code in the 5ESS switch. Countless millions of times a day for over 30 years now. Probably the oldest code that we all depend on every day.

    At Fermilab we had ODH areas, Oxygen Deprivation Hazard. This was due primarily to Nitrogen, although in some, it could be Helium or other inert gas.
